Rematch clauses suck. If you lose big you should earn your way back up and if the fight is close or controversial popular demand will ensure the rematch anyway if it's needed.

This is the #1 and #2 p4p and the #1 and #1a ppv draws. What would they be working their way back to? Floyd is 33 by fight time. Pac is 30+. both guys started at low weights, and small guys age quickly.

Very true. Personally? I think floyd takes this 40 mil, and then takes another extended vacation. Perhaps that is what Arum senses, and is trying to mandate the rematch.

He had to try A-level competition at some point. His other option was Mayweather at 128.

Yes, arum can sue him for breach of contract. Arum can get a judge to issue an injunction preventing Floyd from fighting anyone else.

But before that happened, the NSAC would intercede.

Yeah im aware. I was talking more generally about the principle but if Floyd would manage to completly dominate Pac he should not be bound up by a rematch clause.

Well this bump in the road was to be expected. I dont think anyone is suprised with the stance each camp has taken. Seems like both camps expect a close fight with the winner barely edging it out by the skin of their teeth.

The Mayweather camp wants a rematch clause to be consentual because they know if Floyd loses Pac would not run from a challenge and would give him the rematch no questions asked.
They also know that if Floyd wins it'll be by the hairs of his chinny chin chin and would like to avoid a rematch if they can avoid it and gloat about how great he is because he beat Pac by split decision.
