eubank and hopkins, sure.. but jones? really!?

there were at the very least 7-8 175lbers who were better than jones when he fought joe, imo there were about 15 of them.

beating roy jones meant nothing at that stage, zero. in fact it tarnishes his legacy that he got in the ring with roy in the first place not to mention failed to finish him off. the same thing applies to hopkins (for fighting roy).

i personally think hopkins clearly beat calzaghe which eliminates that win too. i dont see how anyone who knows how to score a fight can give it to joe tbh.

that leaves eubank and while its a good win i dont think its enough to carry an entire legacy on which is what calzaghe is doing imo, kessler not being all that good a fighter and lacy being utter garbage.

Agreed! A Close Fight with B-Hop, and a win against an none powerful/glass chin Jones is nothing to brag about!

Joe Calzaghe was simply a fraud who beat bums and shot fighters his whole career. His best win was against Kessler, that was the win his whole legacy(if you can call it that) depended on and look now.... a green 25 year old Ward whooped Kessler way worse than a prime and experienced Calzaghe did.
Shelby Pudwill, lol....Calzaghe would smoke Ward like a philly blunt.

Ward fought the same bum Sakio Bika that Calzaghe did but I guess he wasn't a bum when Ward fought him though, LMAO....this site man, only on this site.

Calzaghe by UD in an ugly fight
just like with Hopkins, nothing happens, but Joe throws a lot
Ward won't have a KD to help his case like Hopkins did
boring match where Joe outpoints him on sheer volume alone
Calzaghe wouldn't land any effective shots, but Ward wouldn't get off

Ward is a different kettle of fish to Joe, because he unifies, then defends unifed titles, picks the best opponents he can find successively and beats them all convincingly, whereas Joe picks A LOT of crap opponents, struggles with a lot of them and only defends the crappest title alone for as long as he can and runs away from unification defences. Whereas they are both accomplished boxers with some ATG assets each, Ward has more abilities. I am pretty sure Ward outskills him comfortably (plan A) and Andre's style nullifies Joe's high output/low hitrate plan B. Neither can stop the other, Ward cant hurt Joe's solid chin enough to take him out, and Joe doesnt have the power to reciprocate a real stoppage against a fair chin as Ward possesses.

That said, in Wales with the cheeky Welsh ref, judges and crowd on Joe's side, Calzaghe might pull off a bare win. Otherwise its a Ward victory. But if we are being honest, Joe would never fight someone of the calibre of Ward until they were aged 40.

I would say Ward by a close decision.
