Ward through over two times as many power punches as Kessler returned. The only thing that wasn't entertaining about that fight was simply the one sidedness of it. If Kessler was anywhere near Ward's class, the fight would have been much better. Kessler may as well have been Miranda.

Ok.
Me too.
Now contrast that with that feeling of total hollow, anticlimactic, frustration you felt after watching Floyd/Oscar or Dirrell/Froch, or Ward/Kessler.
Fights that were ruined by the awful, spoiling, selfish style known as the new American style.
Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit to a point. These guys will do anything not to get hit, including hold, forearms to the neck, and blatant running.
Boxing can be beautiful when done right. SRR and Ali were 2 of the GOAT boxers but they fought in entertaining fights. They were smart warriors, but they didn't gip the audience.
This new breed is all about them. They don't care about the audience at all and if it means holding on for dear life when they should be employing skill and counterpunching, then they'll do it.
All I hear is how "skilled" this new breed is, but if they were truly skilled as you say, they wouldn't need to run, and hold so much. There are other, better options for a skilled fighter than that.
Like punching at the right time.
I knew last nights fight was gonna look like that so I wasn't all that excited about it from jump street, but I wasn't expecting all the fouls and such a ****ty ref.
Though I should know better considering it was in CA.
Anyway, ref's gotta start deducting points early in the fight for excessive holding, running and fouls.
The new American style depends on these factors to be successful. If you take this away from them, they'll be forced to fight and be exposed for the cowards they are.
We don't need "fighters" like this in the sport. If they are that adamant about not getting hit, choose another profession.
The best example of this is the Berto/Collazo fight where Berto was doing the exact thing I'm talking about. In that fight the ref warned him early and penalized him in the second round for excessive holding.
If the ref hadn't done that I guarantee we wouldn't have seen the fight we did. Instead it wouldve been an ugly hit, run and hold fest that wouldve probably favored Berto by a wider gap, since thats his style.

But that's something, "the pull": Those that were pulling for Kessler might have felt 1 clinch felt like 5. I had the same feeling with Hatton vs. Tszyu but I ended up watching it over 5 times over a stretch of time to make sure...yeah...that ****er held throughout...way worse than Ward. But hey, I understood why he did it and said it was the smart thing to do because Tszyu was old, inactive and Hatton could take advantage of what was given...as well as him finding out that even the Old Man could out-box him if not for the holding...so he did what he had to do to win. Didn't like it but at the end of the day, Tszyu has to figure it out in order to win.
At least Hatton didn't deliberately headbutt. That last one from Ward was so obviously deliberate, even Al Bernstein said so!

That is as idiotic as saying Roger Federer will ruin tennis because he doesn't moan, sweat or run as much as Nadal and resorts to refined skill to win. I know you only get it if i put it in these terms.
Now Dirrell and Ward fights were very different fights. Dirrell is still young and thus Froch could use the crooked judges and ref to throw Dirrell to the ground, punch him in the back of the head at will, intentionally and lose the fight but still win. Ward is bigger and stronger and can physically IMPOSE himself. Froch is not gonna bully Ward around, not in your wildest dreams.
Perhaps you should see a replay of Ibragimov vs Wladimir Klitschko if the European style suits you better.
And i know your true agenda, i had you on ignore for some reason, regretted clicking show post the minute i read this BS.

That fight was exciting. It was a thing of beauty to see Ward outclass Kessler, he almost took the guys soul. To see the superior hand speed out of the clinch was very impressive and showed that their was a sizeable boxing advantage between the two fighters. I can't understand how you could be a Froch fan and bag on Ward like that. Froch is just as "dirty" when he is fighting. Btw, if it's hit and don't be hit Dirrell did a whole lot of that against Froch. Your post is all over the darn place.

Hatton held ALL NIGHT. And wrestled Tszyu back to the ropes so he could work.
Ward did TONS of work in the middle of the ring. Ward lit Kess up from the outside.
....and this may not be PC, but I think Kess' heart was in question. He seemed to be looking for a way out.

I predicted Cotto's doom when he was kicking Judah's ass and I predict Froch's when he was kicking Taylor's ass.
Damage in boxing ADDS UP. You never fully recover from every time you are hurt or dropped and there's nothing purely mental about it. It's your body. That's why they call your boxing vitality an egg, it first cracks and then it breaks.
