maybe in britain. In america only real boxing fans knew who he was. to be honest i have never been a fan of hatton. Nothing against the guy just doesnt suite my taste. I feel that the original poster is really taking their opinion way too seriously. SOME people feel that way but not all.

If you think kessler v. ward was boring and bad for boxing than your not a fan of the sport because that was a true blue BOXING match. and dont even start talking about holding and hitting because american are DEFINENTLY not the only ones to do that.

Its all personal opinion you cant speak for the boxing public because im in the boxing public and i definently dont want you speaking for me.
Edit: most of this is directed at Victoria Beckham not you Hayemaker.

How can you really call this the "American" style? Because a handful of guys from America fight that way?

I think you want to say the "Black" style

For every notable American fighter that fights going backward in a defensive shell you can name, I'll name you 3 that don't

You would not mind the running if the Brit was on the right end of the decision though.

Pacman is just a special sort of fighter. You really can't compare another fighter to Pacman.

Its not a black style. Mosley doesn't fight that way, he's black.

            How bout Agbeko? He's black.

This new style is the Mayweather style. Maybe I should call it that.

These things need to be penalized EARLY in the match, to force a better pace.
Ward was fighting very effectively on the inside. It was Kessler who was throwing no punches once he got up close. Ward was peppering his face with uppercuts and breaking the clinch the catch him with straights. If Kessler was better schooled then maybe it would have been more competetive and maybe more appealing to guys with the same view as you.

Outline to me at what point fighting on the back foot becomes "running"; did you think Ward was running against Kessler?

                I can live with that.

It just doesn't make sense to call it the American style

Ward vs Kessler was very exciting. Kessler tried to get breaks, but Ward would have none of it. Cotto on the other hand ran, and you praise Cotto?

Excessive holding and headbutting is never nice to see, being on the backfoot is not really cheating though.

its more of an elusive style. Mayweather's style is Mayweathers no one elses thats why he can do what he does. Dirrell and Ward are nothing like Mayweather. Much less any other fighter in the world. Its just like you cant say someone has Pacquiao's style because its the Pac mans
