For those who think Chad Dawson beat Glen Johnson in the first fight........

Should click on the link of the front page that is the Compubox Analysis. The story that talks about the Johnson-Dawson rematch and they refer to the first fight as a gauge to use for this one. This thread isn't directed as animocity toward Chad because Dawson is gonna try to right the wrong this weekend. The purpose of it is to call out his fans who say he deserved the victory in the first fight.

Here is what you should know. Glen Johnson threw less jabs in that fight and landed a significant amount more which in turn set up hard combinations. Out of the jabs that were thrown Dawson landed only 75 and threw 146 more of them than Johnson while Johnson landed 87 which gives him the edge by 12 connects. He also outlanded Dawson 205-194 in power punches. Now those numbers are not a land slide and a lot of people say you shouldn't just go by compubox to determine whether or not a fighter won a fight. But the other criterias of judging a fight favored Johnson by far. He was the aggressor in the fight and he landed the much better punches.

Now ask yourself this guys. If Johnson outlanded Dawson, landed at a higher connect percentage, pressed the action and dictated the pace of the fight, and landed the harder punches, how can you say that Dawson won that fight? And to me, it's not out of the realm to make the 10th round a 10-8 in Johnson's favor because he had Dawson hurt bad and hanging on. Like I said, Dawson has a chance to redeem himself and silence the doubters and that's why I don't want to turn this into a Dawson hate thread. But his fans need to be real and admit that he lost that first fight and got a gift.

When punch numbers are that close, you can't use compubox... You just can't.. Different amounts of punchers are landed in each round..

For example, a boxer could dominate for the 4 middle rounds, and out land him by 100 punches.. If he got out landed in each of the other rounds minimally, well then gues what? That's 8rd's to 4...

Compubox should only be used in dominate fights, where the winner was clear. Using it for a backup to your claim after a close fight is ******.

I had Dawson winning by a rd or 2 BTW.. I also think he takes this one fairly easily.

Jesus Christ guys, pay attention to what I typed. I said Compubox is one of the reasons why Johnson got robbed. Punch quality is another reason. Dawson tried to turn it into olympic boxing, and Johnson put up a performance that best describes prize fighting. I can't for the life of me figure out why people think Dawson won that fight.

please spare me not a robbery by any means. its called a close fight. crybaby johnson must forget that the first 6 rounds of the fight, in which he got swept, count on the scorecards.

                  Dawson won the fight.

                  Problem with compubox is that:

                  A: Human error is involved.
B: Judging fights the way they need to be judged means that compubox means very little. If one guy wins a round VERY convincingly, and the punch stats back that up, it doesn't mean more than if the opponent won more rounds, but in less one sided fashion.

It's round by round. Dominating rounds can cause a skew in the punch stats. But the object is to win more rounds. The rounds Johnson won, he dominated, and that's why the punch stats are how they are. But Dawson won more rounds.

^^^^^^^ This, also there were several close debatable rounds if you had the close rounds scored for one particular fighter each time like the biased ****s you are, then you could have had either man up 8-4.
