Cotto looked better against Jennings than Clottey

I know that Clottey is a much better fighter than Jennings but aside from that, look at Cotto.

His speed, defense and power were a lot better in the Jennings fight than the Clottey fight.

Maybe it has to due with his trainers? Santiago's first job of training Cotto was for the Clottey fight. Maybe Evangelista was better as the trainer.

There can be absolutely no comparison made between the fights for the reason you stated.

    Clottey >>> Jennings.

I mean Clottey comes to the ring almost a LHW and Jenning's looks like a lightweight in disguise.

It's the disparity between Clottey and Jennings. No one looks good against Clottey. Jennings was....well, Jennings.

You're missing my point. Look at the attributes shown by Cotto. His speed and defense were better. Opponents don't have much to do with how fast you are or how good your defense is.

Of course it does. Cotto was moving forward against Jennings, which he's much better at. He seemed hesitant against Clottey, he lacked conviction behind his punches. He seemed frustrated by the guard.

Speed and defense can definitely look better against poor opponents. Jennings had a jab and a straight right in his arsenal. That's it.

It seems people have know idea what they're even writing about.

I'm telling you all to look at the attributes. Don't look at how easy it was to beat one of them from the other. Look at his attributes. His speed was better and his defense was better. Opponents have nothing to do with how your speed and defense is. It's either you have the same speed and defense in every fight or you don't.

Well let me state the obvious. No one has ever looked good against Clottey.

And as for your statement opponents have everything to do with how fast you are depending on your syle. If you know you can take someones punches you know you can blitz them and be quicker in the process. As the level of competition rises then you might take your time. It all depends on your gameplan. You can only do so much with one eye. And as far as defense, does anyone really need defense to beat jennings?

Haha, that's not true. Defense against a guy with more punches in his arsenal and more handspeed is not going to look as good as defense against a guy who can only throw a 1-2 and has average handspeed.
