    Good post.

Ezzard Charles was close to the same age as Rocky and had quite a reach advantage.

Good, hes one fighter that doesn't quite get thet respect and publicity as he should now, he is an ATG, and should be treated like one. I know in the Boxing world he is respected, but I mean in the world overall.

He gets discredited by certain people in the sports media because he was white, but in reality he was an all-time great boxer who faced and defeated all the best heavyweights of his time.

Virtually all of Rocky's opponents were taller and had a longer reach, but he had the skills to overcome those disadvantages, as well as awesome heart and determination.
I have to agree with you about the reverse racism. If Marciano wouls have been black or Mexican he would be revered as one of the greatest by all. His competition wasn't the greatest but, he beat everyone in front of him. He also had the greatest right hand in history.

what about Ali, floyd patterson, sonny liston, george foreman, joe frazier, JOE LOUIS.

its good thing but they choose the wrong person, was it more the fact marciano is white that they decided to go with him. just pointing out the obvious, due to the fact that he isnt even in the 10 top of all time HW, people like Ali done alot more charity and work outside the ring.
My understanding has always been that Marciano didn't do ANY or at most, very little charity work that he couldn't extract a fee for. Something like Joe de Maggio.

I also read in several different account, that he had very little money in the bank when he died, that it was all buried somewhere on his property, still to be discovered, over $4 million.

On his skill and talent I put him amongst the worst heavyweight champions.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but it is so.

People like Steve Farhood, Teddy Atlas, Max Kellerman, and Al Bernstein have said they don't rate Marciano as a ATG heavyweight. Several people on boxingscene, including comments in this thread, have parroted what they've said.

I was really disappointed when Canada's Russ Anber was unfairly discrediting Rocky during a televised special of Rocky's fights on Canada's TSN. I e-mailed TSN to let them know, and made a thread at the time on ESB encouraging others to do the same.

Marciano was very good to his friends and relatives, and supported them in opening businesses. Rocky gave money to Joe Louis when he was broke and struggling in the 1960s.

Rocky was smart with his money and retired comfortably.

It's all in opinion, I guess. In my books, he's an all-time great heavyweight.

Two questions: How much hate is this thread getting from Floyd Mayweather fans?
What if they were bringing up a statue of the man himself, can you imagine how much hate it would get?

About the story itself i think it's undeserving and the reason for it is the Rock's popularity, not his record, not his skills certainly. I have nothing else to say.
