you're right, you don't take fights with so little prep time, unless you're A) out of shape or B) not confident in winning...

williams should say **** it, and offer the fight to cintron or somebody else, and clottey can sit on the shelf to march or april of next year, and hope for a fight with somebody like collazo....
There will be more opportunities for Clottey. The division has plenty of names fighters and Clottey will get one of them.

Why take the chance of coming off two losses to Cotto and Williams which will severely lower his chances of getting a fight with proper preperation and proper money. He is better taking 250k to fight a Collazo.

Williams best bet would be entice a Cory Spinks.

Williams needs to give the 12/5 date back to HBO and secure a January or February date for Clottey. If he did that I suspect Clottey would take the 650K.
Why did Clottey stop training? If he had kept himself in shape 5 weeks would have been enough. He only has himself to blame for missing out on this big payday.

Because his fight got cancelled. Williams himself said last week that he had no intentions of fighting Clottey. So Clottey sends his trainer home and suddenly Williams is up for the fight! Sounds like opportunism to me!

Exactly! how hard is it for these fools to understand that these are world class athletes we are talking about. There is a ritual to training for these guys. Proper time frames and all.

So Clottey is in the middle of a training camp and then misses a short week before a new fight is made?

Doesn't that make Clottey look horrible? I mean a week can be lost due to a cold or some other issue that is almost certain to pop up during any training camp.

Either give him more time to prepare or more money and fight is made. I don't blame Clottey...he is fighting Williams and most likely lose. Also, Williams is fighting at 154 or higher, Clottey's last fight was at welterweight...if they want him to move up then sweeten the pot. Let's remember than Clottey doesn't get to keep all the 650K...he be lucky to have 100K left after paying everyone and the govt gets their cut.

Why did he stop training ? You must be joking right. Joshua has every right to ask for a more pay or time. Joshua deserves a good pay day.I respect him more for not taking this fight on short notice for that price. I want the fight too but lets not kid ourselves he is looking after his financial well being here too so is Pwill.

Clottey can train for 8 weeks and would still lose as if he only trained for 5 weeks.

I would love to see this fight though.

I dont understand what you're saying here. Clottey wasnt waiting on standby for a fight, he sent his trainer home thinking he wouldnt be fighting again this year. Williams said he wasnt gonna fight him.

Now suddenly he has to fight at Williams' weight, at 5 weeks notice for half the money Williams is getting? Please.

I have a feeling that fight we may see on Dec 5. Ironic since Spinks was robbed in his match with Verno Phillips, Paul should have fought him in the first place. Plus its another old has been to add to his record, if he wins
