Clottey Responds To Refusing $650K For Paul Williams

I dont understand what you're saying here. Clottey wasnt waiting on standby for a fight, he sent his trainer home thinking he wouldnt be fighting again this year. Williams said he wasnt gonna fight him.

Now suddenly he has to fight at Williams' weight, at 5 weeks notice for half the money Williams is getting? Please.

1. DBE stated that they were working on keeping the Dec. 5th date for Josh so his supposed "training stoppage" was his own decision.

2. Goosen-Tutor stated they contacted Clottey the day after the fight was cancelled. He was option #1

3. What exactly is Williams' weight that Clottey has to fight at?

4. Africa is an 8hr flight away. It's not gonna take his trainer 2 weeks to come back.

5. Joshua Clottey has made above 600K once his whole career. This would be higher than anything else he's ever gotten. But he's got so many excuses (see above) I'm pretty sure he'll find a new one.

I'm trying to understand the timing here.

1: Clottey is in camp.
2: The fight gets cancelled
3: Clottey sends his trainer home.
4: 5 days later an offer from Williams for 650K is on the table.

Based on that Clottey says he doesn't have enough time to train because there's only 5 weeks untill the fight? Surely that cannot be his primary excuse or is something missing in the timeline?

it has been a few months since clottey's last fight. imo, he should've been preparing himself (mentally and physically) for his next potencial fight, seeing is he is a "professional fighter". so what did he expect, that he wouldn't get another fight after "gave away" his last fight against cotto? and did he not say that he "loved the gym" in his last interview? with that said, his body should be in decent shape at least, and the only thing that could be an issue would be the mental aspect of the fight. and i think 5 weeks is plenty time to get your mind right.

Since when is 650k **** money? Ask Clottey how much he was getting paid to fight Quintana.

You get more money depending on who you're fighting. If you believe he should get the same than fighting quintana you're wrong. plus he just said it was a short time to train. How would he know his fight would get canceled and williams fight too? You can't train everyday fighters need rest to.
