Clottey Responds To Refusing $650K For Paul Williams

Its low when you consider Williams will be making double. Neither of these guys are huge draws, so why are they so far apart in money? Remember Williams turned down 1.5m initially from Pavlik (who is a MUCH bigger draw) and stalled out for a close to 50/50 split. Clottey clearly wants the fight but they are ****ing him about.Comment

Some of PWill fans are blinded by constant nut hugging. It's simple give Clottey 8 weeks to prepare for the fight and it is sealed/done. All Joshua said was for 5 weeks the money was low and he is right. If they can not pay him more move the fight 8 weeks away and lets get this fight
This may sound xenophobic, but that is a problem with these African fighters. Guys like Quartey and Clottey. They go in, fight their own style, never think/believe they've lost, and then have inflated sense of self based on "losing close."
Clottey is coming off a loss and has zero fanbase. Does he understand how much money $650K is?
Paulie Malignaggi made $200K to fight Diaz. Zab fought Spinks in St.Louis for $100K.
I knew there was more to this. Williams team seem to be more intent on claiming that fighters are "ducking" them rather than actually fighting them.
Just last week, after the Pavlik pull out, Williams claimed he had no interest in fighting Clottey because he brought nothing to the table. Now suddenly he lowballs him after Clottey has stopped training just so he can say Clottey is ducking him. Gimmie a break.Comment

Read this and then repost. I believe Clottey said he NEVER stop training after the Quintana fight was cancelled. http://www.boxingscene.com/index.php?m=show&id=23101Comment

650k is a lot but extend it a few weeks for extra training and he will take it. What's the problem? Williams is not an easy guy to face so he wants to prepare as much as prossible. Training is different for fighter to fighter. He needs to spar with taller guys who throw a lot.Comment

Who is Paul Williams? Certainly not a main attraction either. Come on now.Comment
