Its low when you consider Williams will be making double. Neither of these guys are huge draws, so why are they so far apart in money? Remember Williams turned down 1.5m initially from Pavlik (who is a MUCH bigger draw) and stalled out for a close to 50/50 split. Clottey clearly wants the fight but they are ****ing him about.

Clottey has a very very slight chance of winning.

that was just one reason he should have a full 8 weeks to train.

pwilliams is a hard fighter to fight, so imo anyone would want a full 8 weeks to train
Read this and then repost. I believe Clottey said he NEVER stop training after the Quintana fight was cancelled. http://www.boxingscene.com/index.php?m=show&id=23101

clottey said he stays in the gym....he was already preparing for a fight on the same day as PW, on the same card, as PW, so why does he need extra time now? if williams is able to go ahead with the same date, why not clottey?

first of all.....its not as easy as just "moving a fight back." you're dealing with a HBO date, and HBO doesn't do PPV's so clost to christmas.....if the fight were to get pushed back, it'd undoubtedly get pushed to january sometime, and if that's the case, and PW has to sit out the rest of the year, he might as well wait to january and move ahead with the pavlik fight......

Clottey is coming off a loss and has zero fanbase. Does he understand how much money $650K is?

Paulie Malignaggi made $200K to fight Diaz. Zab fought Spinks in St.Louis for $100K.
            good post.

Just last week, after the Pavlik pull out, Williams claimed he had no interest in fighting Clottey because he brought nothing to the table. Now suddenly he lowballs him after Clottey has stopped training just so he can say Clottey is ducking him. Gimmie a break.
lowball? exactly WHO is joshua clottey??? like he said, he made less to fight cotto, and was probably gonna get 400 or less for quintana....how the hell is 650 a "lowball" offer? clottey's not a main attraction fighter at this point.

but seriuosly this is what team williams does..make a ****ed up offer and claim fighters are ducking him..when in reality williams has no fanbase and isnt a draw and the fight will generate no money

650k is a lot but extend it a few weeks for extra training and he will take it. What's the problem? Williams is not an easy guy to face so he wants to prepare as much as prossible. Training is different for fighter to fighter. He needs to spar with taller guys who throw a lot.

Who is Paul Williams? Certainly not a main attraction either. Come on now.
