So Hopkins isnt great according to some because his fights where/is boring ? What about Whitaker then ?? Please. If Hopkins was so bad, why didnt Calzaghe simply overpower him as he talked about all the time ??
I mean how hard can that be against a 43 year old man, simply put lots of pressure and use speed to beat the "old" man ???

Its simple because Hopkins is great at shut down the other fighters game plan, and he have great skills to go along with a granite chin.

So Calzaghe is according to some a great fighter but Hopkins is not, based on a off the floor split descision against a 43 year old Hopkins ??

I would have loved if someone like Willie Pep would have fought today, think about how much hate that would have been talked about his defense style.

I will say this, no way should he be rated over Dawson at this time @ LHW. The only thing of note he has done there against a top LHW was beat Tarver over 3.5 years ago.....I view Dawson as #1 LHW in the world right now.

The only man he ever fought his own size was Tarver. All his other wins were over cherry-picked SMALLER boxers like De La Hoya and Trinidad, or over nobodies like Steve Frank and Andrew Council. He lost when he faced bona fide world-class opponents like Roy Jones Jr., unless they were little guys like Trinidad and De La Hoya.

His illegal "hold and headbutt" style while effective, is boring to watch. His character is weak - remember his racist statements about never letting "a white boy" beat him, before the Calzaghe fight?
