Im still confused, if Pep could get away with it with his boxing skill, why would anyone think Floyd couldnt do the same. I dont think their is really any evidence to say a fighter of today wouldnt be able to do anything that was done in older times. Their all human.
I didn't say Floyd couldn't do it. Read my post again:

"If you had fragile hands as Floyd does, that basically meant you had to look for another sport than boxing. Or you just wouldn't sit down on your punches, much like Willie Pep didn't. He too had bad hands and broke them often."

Some fighters today couldn't hang in the old times. Floyd is one of boxers who could but still, he would have problems with his hands, problems he could overcome because of his great boxing skill and ability to adapt, much like Pep.

Anyone who thinks he wouldn't have problems with hand injuries fighting much more regularly and without the ability to pick and choose fights is not being realistic. He has problems with his hands even now and they affect his performances.

Robinson was one of the few fighters who made a very good living out of the sport though and he did pay his dues early on in his career.

In fact Robinson made enough money so that he could have fought less regularly but he thought fighting often kept his skills sharp.

I wouldn't call it being a "diva". Robinson hardly fought for millions and thought if he was going to get punched in the face, he might as well get paid for it.

Arguing about opponents not being big enough PPV draws, getting 30 million instead of 40 and so on is being a diva.

That sounds equivalent of Robinson in his day dont you think? I mean whats the difference.

The difference is that Robinson was difficult to deal with because he wanted to get paid, not fight for a couple of dollars.

I'm sure he would have been content on being paid millions even if his opponent was not a huge draw.

That is a big if. Some fighters of today can barely go 10. Jermain Taylor ring a bell?

Not to mention that the old school fighters fought the real championship rounds, they also fought more often.

Take my boy Archie Moore for example.

              won 185 (KO 131) + lost 23 (KO 7) + drawn 11 = 220
              rounds boxed 1477 KO% 59.55

              220 professional bouts son.

The Divas of today not only fight less rounds, they fight a maximum of anywhere between 30 to 50 fights.

i think its the fact that alot of them had alot more heart and really had too earn their dues back then, hype didnt play as much of a part,it was all about what you did in the ring-too be the best you really had too beat the best, often repeatedly.

Of course they are better. They fought more, they were tougher, they had more heart and they didn't take time off like todays HBO bitches.

There's a reason boxing used to be a respected sport back then and why its a fringe sport now.

Its hilarious to think Floyd could compete w/ the badasses of yesterday, when he doesn't even fight the ones today.

When Floyd starts to fight guys his own size for at least 5 fights, get back to me.

                    Until then, he gets smashed.
