No I did not know that. I watched it, don't remember them mentioning that. I do remember Whitaker saying that Tito's punches felt weird, that he never faced anyone with a punch like that. Correct me if I'm wrong, I can't remember too well, wasn't it Whitaker who said he felt like he was being hit with a rock?

Pernell has beaten the better fighers but head to head I think its a tossup at any of the weights they fought at...

I do know that Vargas had quite a few things to say about Tito's punching power.

"Whitaker showed terrific courage, fighting from the sixth round on with a broken jaw. He had surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan early yesterday morning to have plates placed in his jaw. Whitaker expects to recover in two weeks, and says he wants to continue fighting."

You mean the Floyd that went life and death with the sparring partner of Chavez, who Pernell absolutely took to school?

Why does everyone say that ****** ****? Whitaker was beating Hurtado on the scorecards. Hurtado was awkward and hard to deal with. Only reason people even talk about the fight is because Pernell was down twice.

Other than that, Whitaker was actually pretty damn good at pressing the fight. He could really work over opponents from a close distance, making punches miss by inches, and handed out quite a few body beatings like I've never seen Mayweather do.
I disagree with you. He was obviously not prime, but his pressure was an obvious tactical decision made by the corner, since he did it from second 1 of the fight. Defensively he was brilliant as usual, and was winning rounds.

My thoughts exactly. Floyd is claiming supreme status without walking the treacherous road walked by true ATG boxers. Floyd has the skills but when matched up with other ATG's boxers often look less than stellar. Floyd is afraid to look this way but that is what has to be done to prove you are the best.

I don't disagree that it was a tactical decision. Whitaker was behind on all scorecards by 93-92, 94-92 and 96-91 margins, the only way he could have won was by scoring a knockdown or a KO.

Floyd's only been in the ring with one ATG...

Pacquiao or Mosley could be one down the line...I wouldn't consider Cotto one...
