Last Point, Why is Martinez rushing to end his career so damn early?
What is the upside in losing to Paul Williams right now and this fast?
What does he do after this lost?
What win could rebuild his career?
What win could give him the hype he got right now?

Martinez should build his name up more, so if he does fight Paul Williams in the future and loses at least he would have a name to fall back on, and not some worthless belt.

He is about to turn himself into vivan harris.

      Good question.

I don't think so. I remember reading an interview on B-Talk with Williams. He said he doesn't want to fight losers after the Cotto vs Clottey fight. This was when Clottey called him out.

But knowing HBO, they probably wouldn't want the fight anyway

Nah. I say is 50/50 styles makes fights.

Martinez have the chance to pull a Quintana, teh problem is Martinez doesnt have the power Quintana have.

And Pavlik could just starch his ass.
He beat Phillips for the interim title.

That was MUCH MUCH after. Paul had a legit reason IMO, although I had Clottey beating Cotto.

Why does Martinez need to prove so much just to fight another young guy who hasn't proven much himself?

Cory Spinks just sounds like an easy way out to avoid the better and tougher Martinez.
              Williams Havent Proven Much?
              compared to who?
              Martinez!!!

              GTFO.

Winky Wright is still a top 5 Middleweight.
You forget Paul Williams beat the Cheating **** that KO martinez...!!

why did I even response to this post!

If Quintana could beat Williams, Martinez will have him quitting on the stool. By the way, Margarito beat a green Martinez about 30 fights earlier in his career in his 16th or 17th pro fight- he was outlanding Margarito 3 to 1 when Margs trapped him along the ropes and the ref called it, no quitting for Martinez.

All I know is that Williams has been hard done here. He was focused on prepping for a bigger, tall, slower guy with a lot of power and a conventional style.

Six to seven weeks out, a wrench is thrown in the works. We are talking about a smaller, speedy, stylish southpaw. I know that we think of Williams as up-n-coming, but the dude is 29 next summer. He is no kid.

Pavlik has really harmed him. Eight months (and possibly more) without a bout.
