Good for Bud! These guys have to pay 3% sanctioning fees for EACH belt which is absurd. They don't do anything and Floyd was rich at some point they just collect dust and these guys are throwing away money and when you're fighting for four of them that's 12% of your dang purse. Screw that. They bring almost nothing to the table at the end of the day so why should there be any fees outside of the making of the belt itself and maybe a small capped fee of $25,000 or so to the design team. This nonsense of paying them $300,000 for one fight is nuts. I am all for some force coming into boxing and eliminating the sanctioning bodies.

So if he didn’t pay the sanctioning fee for belts? Does that mean retroactively he never became champion at 154 or became undisputed at 168?

His platform is so big now that he can afford to make a move like that and public opinion will be on his side, but I don’t think really regular boxers without a following would even dare to pull that. If they did, they’d easily fall into sanctioning bodies’ bad graces.


Fortunately for Bud, he’s reached a level where he gives the belts prestige, not the other way around (similar to Canelo, Floyd or Pacquiao).

But playing devil’s advocate, if somebody wanted to be technical, they COULD say if he never paid the sanctioning fee, then he never was eligible to win it in competition when it was on the line.

That's a bad business plan. They should request the money up front before the fight even takes place, because once a fighter wins it goes on his resume being stripped or not. The only time it only matters if a fighter test postive for drugs.

Now that Crawford beat canelo does he really even need the belts ? Thats why I respect Floyd. Floyd didnt need the belts to prove hes the best.

WBC needs to either buy out the other belts or get their money up front from both fighters before the fight. Win or lose ( if you wanted to do real shady business but get paid)..

The only sad part is. They will black bull crawfords legacy somehow down the road i have a feeling.

The WBC and the other sanctioning bodies have been scamming for years. Now take a bit of your medicine.

They should had contracted that in some way if they wanted to get paid. $300,000 instead of the 3% is still excessive.

This way the headline identifies who the important party involved is, Crawford.

bud crawford is on record as saying he was only getting 10 mil to fight canelo & was only doing it for the glory not the cash, i knew that was BS as turki always has an upfront payment but thats not the only payment, same thing happened with the wbc clowns and bivol when that idiot suliclown disclosed bivols 'fee' for beterbiev which was like 2 or 3 mil or something but thats the figure i think that bivol paid his % of the wbc sanctioning fees of & not the full fee which was over 12 mil or more confirmed by hearn who was mad at the wbc for disclosing the fee anyway if i remember right & it lead to benny fans on here saying look bivol only got 2 mil for beter and he wont accept the 8 mil guarantee for that fight when in fact bivol made a lot more than that for the beter fight

now bud didnt want to pay the % off his fee + full turki fee which would be much more is a possibility and just said FU Wbc im going to upgrade the rest room in my new mansion thank you very much

so lets see, bud didnt pay for the madrimov fight either which was another nice turki payday BUT that means the WBC KNEW that bud was NEVER going to pay his fee for the canelo fight but still gave him the belt anyway, so they did it for their own purposes as well
