Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder: One last shot? Or just plain shot?

I honestly believe Wilder was severely injured in fight 2 vs Fury and has not been the same fighter since.

All those years of too-heavy ringwalk attires must have counted for something.

Now I get it , it’s all making sense
That is what has affected him from pulling the trigger

I think that we'll all have more to go on after this weekend. But the age, the brutal 5 fights with Fury and Ortiz, the sheer number of fights he's had.......I beleive we are VERY unlikely to see a 2015 -2021 level performance.
                  That's just how nature works.

I, for one will miss him! Maybe Moses Itauma has what it takes to take the torch and be the knockout artist to sit atop the division and keep fans on the edge of their seats.

The only half decent name on Wilder's resume before he fought Tyson Fury is Luis Ortiz. As rightly pointed out in this article, from there, it’s a steep drop-off to the B-listers, C-listers and D-listers against whom Wilder built his remarkable knockout percentage.

Let's face it, once he started fighting anyone in the top 10, he started losing. Now he has gone back to fighting nobodies to boost his confidence. If he ever fights anyone in the top 10 the outcome will be the same. He was always gangly, uncoordinated and never had any boxing technique. He always looked like a novice and never like a champion. Watching him in the years past, I was always thinking "how can this guy be a champion when he looks like an amateur"? I think we all ignored his lack of skills because of the highlight reel knockouts against nobodies.
