Let's take a trip down memory lane, how would Floyd Mayweather Jr. have fared against these fighters had he not retired in 2007?

    Ehh, not really true.

When he "retired" in 2007 he'd only been at the weight class for 2 years and had 4 fights there.

2 of those fights were against Judah who was ranked #3 and Baldomir who was ranked #1, another one was against Ricky Hatton who was P4P #8 and who'd previously won the WBA title at 147 VS Collazo who was ranked #5 at WW.

So 3 of his 4 fights at WW at that time were vs "Top contenders".

He announced his retirement on December 8th 2007, not June of 2008.

I mean, you can disagree all you want, doesn't change the literal fact that out of the 4 fights he'd had at WW between 05-07 3 of them were vs Top contenders.

That's not up for debate, it's a fact. So saying he fought no top contenders is objectively false.

he cancelled that dec retirement it says online

funny enough floyds retirement coincided with the rise of pac at that time who went on his prime run for the next few years

How is that "funny enough" when Pacquaio hadn't even fought at WW yet at that point and Floyd announced his return on May 2nd 2009 the day before Pacquaio fought Ricky Hatton. It's the opposite of what you're implying.

It's just revisionist history from every angle. You've claimed he fought no top contenders at WW when he retired in 2007 which is objectively false.

You're now implying that he retired in 2008 because "Pacquaio was on the rise" which is also not true.

Lol. You mean everybody who was up next after he beat Hatton?

The whole welterweight division he avoided for two years because his hands was hurtin' according to Big Dunn his official excuse maker and shoe shine boy

Instead of Floyd 9-3 Cotto it’s Floyd 8-4 Cotto

                  Kermit is idiot

Floyd marg expect lot of clinching and spoiling tactics. Cotto doesn’t know how to clinch and lost to marg because of it

                  Shane still gets confused

Tall Paul is avoided because everyone [Shane Cotto manny] avoided him

freakishly tall southpaw that no one knows about because he wasn’t that good
All of those were 50 50 fights that's why Floyd ducked out of the division

I agree. For two years absolutely.

He returned and fought a lightweight

so it’ll be a mix of running and shooting at the same time + clinching

manny didn’t clinch and went through hell to beat margarito

                      Shane clinched and aped margarito

Cotto didn’t clinch and took a career changing beating
Good point. Man I bet it was alot easier to become a boxing fan back then. No apps just HBOand Showtime for the big fights, promoters weren't as reluctant to work with each other. Everything's so divided now. Not to mention all the pointless interim, world and silver belts we have now.
