Yup, time for Taylor to move on to something else. He doesn't have the durability, firepower, or stamina to compete among the top guys at 14 stone 7.
Taylor telegraphed as much when he was quoted in a recent BoxingScene article, ‘I could retire tomorrow a happy man’.
That's HW

Congratulations to Essuman on his incredible win. I didn't think he stood a chance but he fooled me. However, he was a hand picked opponent. Therefore, I tip my hat to him on his spirited victory.
As far as Josh Taylor goes; I don't know where does he go from here. Something was definitely off about his performance on yesterday. He didn't look the same in the second half of the fight.
He appeared very lethargic and low on energy. Could it have been an injury, his struggles with alcohol or just simply aging? In any case, he didn't look the same in the second half the fight. His gas tank was running on empty.
Perhaps, he should fight at least one more time and then call it a career. In any case, he is done at the elite level. He is officially a gatekeeper status.

Hope he releases a statement where he admits he lost this fight and that he should retire.
It's sad because I was a fan before the Catterall fight but he comes across so unlikeable these days.

Now you all see why guys like Taylor and Prograis flapped their gums about moving up to 147 when Crawford was there, but wisely never did. Good fighters, but wildly overrated and never elite.champion4ever likes this.

If we’re being totally honest, he lost to Jack Caterall in their first fight as well. The guy has been high on the smell of his own farts for at least the last three years. I don’t know how on earth he believed he could face any of the upper echelon fighters at 147. Josh 2.0 was a figment of his delusional imagination - just like the victory he was so certain he deserved last night.Last edited by JonEC; 05-25-2025, 02:18 PM.
