Which is both very sad and pathetic! Canelo was reduced to just landing only single punches to the body at a time. This fight with Scull was very reminiscent of his fight with Lara.

He couldn’t find him either. So he implemented the same fight plan as this one by landing single punches to the body at a time. I thought Lara won that one.

This one was close. However, I believe that Canelo barely won it. It could have been easily ruled a Draw.

Scull should just retire after having trained your whole life for this opportunity and then straight up run for 12 rounds.

That wasnt a fight, it was a foot race. More running than a track meet.

People don’t know what cutting the ring off is and they don’t understand how hard it is to do against a guy who’s got faster feet than you and doesn’t want to engage. It’s a lot harder than it looks on TV, especially against world-class fighters. Canelo was cutting off the ring. He was moving laterally to press Scull and was throwing hooks to try cut off his exits. That is, by definition, what cutting off the ring means. Cutting off the ring doesn’t mean throwing loads of punches on the front foot, it means you aren’t chasing a guy in straight lines.

Just unbelievable.
That's like saying a low blow doesn't count unless the fighter is punched in the nuts.
The fact Scull had to evade laterally 90%+ of the time is proof of that.
I acknowledge Canelo is losing a step, father time will always win. Canelo should be able to cut off the ring more effectively, but to say Scull elected, on his own account, to evade laterally the entire fight out of his own accord is ascinine. He did that because he had nowhere else to go. And because the ring was constantly being cut off.
If anyone is redefining, it's yourself. And the worst thing is you're doing so with a negative fighter like Scull.

                1. That fight was HORRID
                2. Why wasn't Canelo jabbing at all? He had Skull's face right there so many times.
                3. So many of the Cubans are so terrible to watch. Skull is the king of terrible. How can that dude go back home with his head held high?
                4. I love how everyone (including the ref) were audibly bored. Even Canelo was shaking his head after some of the rounds.
                5. If it was open scoring, the ref should have given warnings or taken points. Without open scoring, how would he know if that strategy was going for a win or just surviving?

Between Friday and Saturday, Turki spent over $120M and not once did a fight break out. It was a dreadful week of boxing which has proven over and over that Turki has no clue how to spend his money wisely and put fights that we can really call fights.

Turki is paying Canelo at least $80M per fight on a 4 fight deal worth close to $400M.

The Canelo fight was a prime example of the dreadful fights that started on Friday where, Teo, Haney, Garcia all stunk out the joint before crowds the resembled more of a club show. To show how dreadful the fight were, at one point The cameras caught Turki falling asleep.

Saturday was no different as Canelo, Skull, Badou Jack, Ajagba, Bakole, and Munguia, all stunk out the joint.

Turki shows are resembling conventions for insomniac’s. That’s how dreadful he fights are. Fighters have gotten hip to playing Turki, take his money and play it safe, like Maverick in Top Gun who refused to engage.

Now Turki want us to believe matching Canelo against Crawford will break out into a fight. Crawford and Canelo will follow the script and make believe your watching a fight, and Crawford will make every excuse and tell us he’s really a 140-147 pound fighter moving up 3 weight classes to take the challenge. Meanwhile, they will be laughing their way to the nearest Saudi bank to make sure the checks don’t bounce.

How can Turki possibly sustain his fan boy boxing fantasy while giving us fights that are soooo dreadful? Doesn’t he understand why HBO and Showtime got out of boxing? Fighters and their Promoters were milking the camel.

The Turki events are starting to remind me of thinking I was buying fireworks for the 4th of July, only to realize the Chinese skimmed on the gun powder and all I got was duds!

He evaded laterly because he was running away and being chased by Canelo, but that does not mean Canelo was effectively cutting off the ring, because he was just chasing him around. Cutting off the ring means cornering an opponent on the ropes and being able to land punches on him, something which Canelo failed to do. It's not rocket science. The whole point of cutting off the ring is to CATCH your opponent, not just make him run around.
