    because it's less risky

Benitez and Whitaker dropped their hands all day and they never got hit

If you plan on attacking more its good to have your hands up anyways

It's not "less risky", it prevents a larger amount of shots hitting you
Benitez and Whitaker spent far more time in their careers, keeping their hands up than dropping them.

Kessler will put him down within six rounds.

Froch has only been down once in his entire career as a ameture and a pro. Its probably fair to say that Froch's chin, stamina, and all round will to win are what have taken him this far.

everyone starting off has to start with thier hands up, i get that, i went through that

but once you get to the point where you dont **** yourself(close your eyes) everytime a punch is thrown and if you can trust your reflexes, it's perfectly safe to have your hands down and it opens up counter opportunities

first off if your always with your guard up your robotic, you dont have a choice, you gonna be robotic
if you have your hands down your honestly not as big a target to hit and you can move more fluidly and punch back from angles

it's really not that hard, if you boxed you wont be afraid of a punch coming at you, and you dont panic so you can think and react quick and just 'move'

with your guard up you gotta take punishment to land punishment
it's not often you see someone with a high guard just jump back avoiding a punch and jumping back in landing a counter, now that's not easy
if you got the high guard you gotta take the punch to the arms(hopeyfully you saw where your opponent threw, being straight down the pipe OR a looping punch around the guard) and only then can you land your punch

simply turning your head can avoid alot of hooks
simply shifting yoru head to one side can avoid a straight punch

i dont expect you to understand as you've probabley never boxed, im just stating what i was taught whether it's wrong or not

Looks like 99% of boxers including the ATG's were/are just starting out, and you have got some matrix skills and will be the GOAT.

So what you really mean is by keeping your hands down, you have a better opportunity to counter punch?

You don't see many fighters with high guards "just jump back avoiding a punch and jumping back in landing a counter", no... but that's because a high guard isn't suited for a counter puncher

You're right though, I must not understand... but that's only because you've been keeping your hands down too long and seem to have acquired some sort of mental problem.

Froch's chin was about the only thing that impressed me last night. Yeah, he got wobbled a bit and Dirrell isn't exactly a power puncher, but if you take multiple shots that you don't see coming on an unprotected chin and don't go down, that's pretty impressive IMO.

I saw a decent up and comer and apparently he has a good chin kid diamond they called him the fight went on and on... he was taking crazy bad punishment but because he has a history of a "good chin" they allowed the fight to continue... that was 5 years ago and, he got KOed in that fight baaad and i havent heard anything about him since.

I know everyone wants the KO but when one guy is clearly outclassed and taking punishment they should shut it down.... it's about people lives here too.

Lmao, That line there cracks me up...On display like Naz who basically leaves his chin hanging in the air.
