to have a good chin is important but it shouldn't be put on display. It terms in a tuff guy competition it should be about the craft of getting a KO or landing more effective punches. it's also about how styles make fights...

I saw a decent up and comer and apparently he has a good chin kid diamond they called him the fight went on and on... he was taking crazy bad punishment but because he has a history of a "good chin" they allowed the fight to continue... that was 5 years ago and, he got KOed in that fight baaad and i havent heard anything about him since.

I know everyone wants the KO but when one guy is clearly outclassed and taking punishment they should shut it down.... it's about people lives here too.

I know that I've watched enough boxing to understand there's a reason boxers keep their hands up, that there's a reason young fighters are constantly reminded to keep their hands up

If your hands are DOWN, no matter how "athletic" you are... there is a GREATER chance of being hit clean on the chin, and that's never a good thing

When Roy Jones started boxing, his trainer didn't say... "Jee, you're the most athletic guy I've ever trained... we'll skip the part about keeping your hands up"
aight...just look at james toney as my example(right arm coming across the chest resting on the left side of your jaw), you dont have your chin totally exposed, make yourself a small target by not squaring up and you still got the low left for when the opponent is coming in

Oh ****, you need a new trainer. Either that or you're lying about being a boxer. Please name all the boxers you know who keep both hands down.

Exactly, no boxer keeps his hands down

Nothing last night to suggest any different from what I thought already. Even the granite jawed still get shaken by the odd punch that lands cleanly. Dirrell never seriously hurt him.

I think we'll probably find out against Kessler.

Ok so you understand keeping your hands up even "singular", is better than having them down?
