JMM quote on Mayweather and Pacquiao:

I had problems moving up, but I would rather fight Pacquiao three or four more times than fight Mayweather once," Marquez said. "Mayweather is a defensive fighter -- he doesn't let you fight. But we know Pacquiao comes to fight and he is a spectacular fighter. He is always going to give you a fight, and that's why I know it will be a war between us.
Manny Pacquiao out to prove point against Juan Manuel Marquez - ESPN

We need to stop being propapgandised into thinking 'defensive' US fighters have some moral superiority and that those of us who think differently are seeing the 'wrong' things with our eyes. These 'defensive' US fighters are usually boring and complacent because they have home advantage.

It wasn't a fight for casuals. You get two well matched guys like that and it can be a close chess match.

A lot like beterbiev bivol, close fight they are well matched and the guys not looking to take too much risk cause they will give openings for counters

From a technical perspective it was a great fight a lot of ring IQ on display especially if you watch the fight analysis channels
      Floyd-manny wasn't close

      in terms of competitiveness: Artur-Bivol 1 > Bivol-Artur 2 > Floyd-manny

Floyd-manny was made to fight Floyd's fight from the opening bell

manny took only 2 rounds 4 then 6

he landed the better shots in those rounds but they were still fighting Floyd's fight

in terms of likability: Bivol-Artur 2 > Floyd-manny > Artur-Bivol 1 Bivol was too disengaging in the last 3 rounds

Tiger Paw Artur is the better technician than manny. Artur made many adjustments, so Bivol had to make adjustments

all 3 were good fights filled with subtle details for the purists

Floyd and Bivol were timing the opponents footwork and catching them when they were out of position to strike

        I agree.

It's called prizefighting not prize hold and run

I was at my fantasy football draft that night. We talked about all going in on the fight, as I am the biggest boxing fan they let me make the call. I voted no. My buddy hosting asked me why, I just said one of two things will happen: It will be an exciting fight, as Pacquiao will press Mayweather to really fight, cut off the ring to make Mayweather fight like he used to in his early career, it and it will live up to the hype. Or, Mayweather will do what he always does- outclass his opponent with superior movement and skill and it will be dull, even after months of trash talking about going for the KO. I expect it to be dull. No one ever made the argument we should have gotten it. It was bad. A clear, easy to score win for Mayweather, but bad.

It went exactly how I told everyone it would go that asked me before hand. Everyone I know knows I am a big boxing fan. People were really excited about the fight so they kept asking me. I kept saying the same thing, it’s going to be a boring fight that Floyd will win easily. Pac will have a few flurries and that’s it. I had it 10-2 or 9-3.

I have seen plenty of worse fights. What it was bad for was for the casual fan who plunked down a lot of money for it. They had this idea it woulld be a fight or a war between two superstars and it did not live up to their expectations so it soured a lot of them on boxing for a long time.

I think the blame for that is on both the fighters. Neither tried to take any risks in there to satisfy the fan's craving for action.
A lot of people I know that paid for it felt they got taken for a ride. Expected something that never did happen.

Floyd won it fairly easy and I personally didn't mind the fight. Not great. Not as bad as people make it out to be.

                  buyer beware

need research before putting money down lol

they would have known manny never had the footwork to bring it to Floyd

Kieran how can you say that? You have to watch the fight upside down in black and white on a CRT tv with Portuguese commentary in a sensory depravation chamber.

Pacquiao looked completely lost in there, swinging at air while Mayweather turned the ring into his playground, effortlessly dodging and landing sharp counters like it was a sparring session.
