It's unanimous! Torrez is NOT the next great American heavyweight.

Agreed , he's not even the next good or even decent one , never mind great. I'm baffled by how he ever got this far.

Vianello is a bit uncoordinated but he is also tough and durable and game. He's better than I thought he was after watching him against Kingsley Ibeh. It's a good win for the American. That being said, Torrez has his ceiling and it's a bit lower than champion.

It didn't read it as a performance that would generate so much negativity. Not a single comment above that is not a standard casual criticism.
Therefore, Here's something positive......

He's a short, strong slugger, whose subtitles are too stealthy for casual observers to catch on to.

He won against a top 20 opponent, which is climbing past the other 3,034 professionals.

People who call boxers on this level "bums" have never boxed; guranteed.

Torrez > Vianello > Ajagba.

Bridgerweight might be a better fit for Torrez. On the other hand, people in the world as tall as Vianello who are capable of boxing better, you can literally count on your fingers.

Torrez passed his big text. He just moved from prospect to fringe contender. It was a close fight, but he won it.

While I don't see the next Marciano, Frazier or Tyson coming out of this, I'd fly to go see Torrez vs Anderson when the time is right.

Yeah would not call him a bum. It just was surprising how off his distance and timing was. He actually did have a round, I forget if it was the eigthth or ninth, where he set up a few good shots, but he got hit. He needs to work on the craft as a whole and develop a specialty. Pressure? probably better than trying to be a puncher. He does not have the power to kock em dead, and his engine is not superb. He could follow the Frazier blue print and learn how to pressure guys persistently and line up good shots.

He's only 1 inch shorter than Usyk and both are about the same weight and is also a lefty. Those are the only things in common with Usyk.

It's skills that pay bills. Usyk has them, Torrez doesn't. He's a ko waiting to happen.

Torrez has got to be the sloppiest fighter that I have ever seen , except for maybe Shadesia Green , they're about on the same level , throw one punch and fall in , clinch , wrestle, and repeat. The referees should demand extra pay to referee a Torrez fight , they're going to be working extra hard for sure. I can't imagine how he got to the Olympics , he must have had tremendous " luck of the draw" throughout his amateur career. I don't think that he will go much farther than he already has , especially if he doesn't retain a much better trainer than he currently has. Like someone else mentioned , he doesn't have a superpower that can make up for his lack of size at heavyweight. His speed and power are probably better than average but not vastly superior and that's what he would need to succeed. I hate to watch Torrez fight with that hyper punch and fall in like a drunk style. It's painful to watch.

I wouldn't call him a "bum". That's silly and way too harsh, but if Torrez Jr. were an NFL QB, he'd be Dak Prescott ~ you might scrap.e a wild card birth with him, but you will never sniff a SB.
