    ?

Bakole beat the crap out of Jared Anderson. Who Tyson Fury once anointed as the next big thing.

And Benavidez has beaten Caleb Plant and David Morrell.

Wow he beat two 168 guys and now he claims he is a top dog at 175.

The point is, why so quick to judgement?

You’re the one who called him a sparring champion. If that’s all he was he wouldn’t have wins over Plant and Morrell.

It was Larry merchant who came up with this narrative of "the American heavy weight." Which is why traditionally I had a lot of patience with the likes of Sidknee before he went full rtard. Merchant's drunk ramblings led for virtually all of Lewis' opponents to become juggernauts in the eyes of casual fans. Of course Grant fell right into this narrative. never mind the slight details like... the guy had the boxing skills of a one handed Kangeroo!
I still remember Lewis locking Grant in a headlock and launching uppercut after uppercut into the inexperienced challenger. Grant had the physical attributes and the gumption, he could have been a helluva champ had he hm started earlier and had more seasoning when he got in with the monsters of the division.

The older one gets the harder to fight at a heavy weight. Parker is a different animal entirely. He has gotten better, like bakole imo. Parker had to understand when to be mobile, when to sit down on his shots, and to just get comfortable fighting at a distance where he could throw counters well. He improved... The difference here is how each fighter adjusts, or is unable to adjust.
Parker became a better fighter under Andy Lee's tutelage. He had all the tools but it was obvious that his development was stunted under Barry. It was incredibly frustrating to see him jab, jab and then fall in with an overhand right. Lee added alot more nuance to his game..

It's not just levels, all fighters are humans and sometimes have a bad night or sometimes the stars align and they perform above their norm. It's what I love about the fight game.

Very true... Imagine if you had guys around like Blackburn (Louis' trainer) etc?

Absolutely. Yes nuance is so important otherwise if one guy figures you out, the blueprint is out! I believe this is what happened with Joyce (for example). "Gee if you hit him back he does not defend well..." Imo the difference is how much subtlety exists comparitively by era... Someone like Wilder who had that fantastic punch would have had to evolve earlier because fighters in past times would know the techniques to avoid his right hand.

Lewis destroyed him because Grant really had no skills, he was reliant upon athletic ability and size and little else. Lewis to his credit took the fight because fans wanted it. His obligation was to face jawney Ruiz, a fighter who threw less punches than his cornerman Stoney! There was never a chance for Ruiz to challenge Lewis and he knew this. People never give Lewis the credit he deserves... The fans asked for it and he delivered...

AJ has proven himself far beyond Grant.
I was live at the Lennox Lewis vs Michael Grant fight. For that fight, I didn't get the seats I wanted. I was somewhere near the middle rows of the Garden. But Lennox's punches echoed through the building. I heard them clearly all the way back where I was sitting, over all the crowd noise and everything. To this day, that's the hardest punches I ever witnessed/heard with my own two eyes and ears, and I've seen both Klitschkos live also.

You can only take that short notice **** so far.

I'm not putting too much value into a man who fattens up so much between camps. Bakole's a waste man like Ruiz.
