He dried out pretty bad to make the weight, so maybe his team felt he would be stronger at 154. Also throw in Thurman isn't a natural 154 pound fighter and the layoff and the risk was worth the reward boxing wise.

Keith Thurman vs Tim Tszyu in Australia. Why not?

Winner puts himself in line for a title shot.

Thurman did not duck Spence like people claim. Spence wanted a shot when he was barely known and Thurman was champ, Thurman at that point fought the bigger names Porter and Garcia. Once Spence then got his belt he always refused to fight Thurman it took Al Haymon and WBC basically trying to force and mandate Spence Thurman for Spence to go back to the Bud table again and get that fight made. Spence avoided Thurman mando as instead of getting beat up by Thurman in the end he decided getting beat up by Bud is more bearable

Nice revisionist history but Thurman wanted no part of Spence when he was on the rise and in line for a title shot, that was abundantly clear.

When Spence got the belt he’s not going to reward the guy that avoided him by giving him a shot especially considering Thurman sat around going nothing for 2 years during that time.

Meanwhile, some of these expert critics have so much belly hanging over their pants, when they look down, they can't even see their di..ks.
Name me one fighter who a critic never has something negative to say anything about...
Often times, the criticisms are legit.
                  As are the accolades.

What is it about fight fans that they think boxers are above ridicule ?!?!?!?
And not every fight fan has to have been a boxer to tell it like it is.

People keep railing on that Brock was a bantamweight 10 years ago (when he was 18) but the dude looked like a full-fledged middleweight yesterday; a big middleweight. He was way bigger than Thurman and solid muscle.

Why should these fighters be ridiculed at all?
