Not impressed with either guy. Just as I suspected, they both left their power at 168. Bivol and Beterbiev have nothing to worry about.

How did Benavidez look average in closing Morrell down & beating him like an old carpet? What should the man have done? I don't think Benavidez will ever fight Bivol because I don't see Bivol beating Beterbiev, but Bivol probably could cause Benavidez more trouble than anyone else. We've already seen that Canelo would rather gnaw his own toes off than get in the same ring as Benavidez. Beterbiev is a scary beast, but he's a 40 year old scary beast & IMO, when they get in the ring Benavidez will carry him at a speed he can't cope with.

It’s strange how boxing works sometimes, doesn’t it? I see it exactly how you see it.
Benavidez will beat Beterbiev but Bivol will fight Benavidez harder than anyone has and he has a shot of winning although, I’d still favor Benavidez.

I suspect Bivol will beat Beterbiev in the rematch and then you’ll see the Benavidez haters come up with some unusual triangle theories and imagined boogeymen or just continue the hate because they cannot help themselves.

Oregonian, in fairness I had not much respect for Benavidez until Bread went on about what a great fighter he was. I definitely now respect Benavidez although I still think that when he does that thing of dragging up his right foot to throw a lead right hand he is leaving himself wide open. IMO Beterbiev will beat Bivol in the rematch, I was shouting for him to throw an uppercut, but it didn't happen. Like you say, rock, paper, scissors, I think Bivol could beat Benavidez but I doubt he can beat Beterbiev. I'm 100% sure Benavidez can utilise his youth, strength, speed & fitness to get the better of Beterbiev. Like you say, triangle theories.

Both Bivol and Beterbiev maul him.

Canelo is NEVER going to fight Benny. It’s been almost 4 years of the greatest ducking in boxing history. He’s not about to give in to what the fans want.

Since that fight will not happen, boxing fans will welcome the winner of Bivol - Beterbiev with gusto.

Benny beats Beterbiev but I think he struggles very much to squeak a very close win vs Bivol. Or Bivol can also win.
Canelo will next fight Cotto who is rumored to be coming out of retirement or perhaps Trinidad or even Mayorga.

Same here, I really didn’t think much of Benny too especially because the Coke fiasco. I respect Breadman too and after the Plant fight I figured to let go of my personal feelings and just see how the division plays out.

I am a huge Canelo fan and it’s very apparent how he will not fight Benny and I don’t fault him because he knows what’s up. What bothers any boxing fan is his choice of opponents. It’s insane that people are still defending him.

Let’s catch up when the fight gets close, I picked Bivol in the first fight and he came up short. I am picking him to win this time too.

Benny may be what you say but Canelo CAREFULLY electing to fight Berlanga, Munguia, Charlo and Ryder over Benny tells you exactly what you need to know about Benny.
If Canelo shreds Benny, all he has to do is make the fight. Benny is on record accepting every single demand Canelo will make. Perhaps he should even allow Reynosa to ref the fight, maybe then Canelo will take the fight.

You can respond every which way about Canelo not fighting Benny but as a Canelo fan (and I am a fan) I’d be foolish to keep defending him.

Either Bet or Biv will fight him next or possibly the looser will fight him first it depends on the money and time left after they stomp each other respectfully inside the ropes. This was the prelim to the real fight coming up..................

I think Morrell can tighten the scorecards with 2 or 3 more fights under his belt, but I would still favor Benavidez to win.

Very good win for Bena, great experience for Morrell. Both guys are legit.

I'm talking about at the professional level. His resume consists of nothing but tomato cans and gatekeepers. Benny was the best opponent that he has ever challenged inside of a professional boxing ring before.

Which was one of the reasons why I picked Benavidez to win this fight. It wasn't a hard pick to make. Benavidez has faced the much stiffer opposition in his professional career than David Morrell has.

While I commend Morrell for both his effort, championship heart and chin; He was yet way out of his league.
