Why the fugg are they even talking about ennis fighting ortiz still. Vergil at 54 and doesnt have a primary title there. Ennis is at 47. Boxing fans are wild for even considering this. Vergil should be chasing the title holders at 54. Shid is crazy.

I get the allure. Years back, I was looking forward to Ennis and Ortiz at 147. And I'm looking forward to them fighting down the line - hopefully not too far down the line. The reason they're still talking about it is because haters gonna hate.

Ennis vs Stanionis should have happened a long time ago when they were both fighting on the same Showtime stable.

They had 8 months to negotiate from the time Stanionis beat Butaev to WBA ordering Ortiz vs Stan. Eight months they were both available to fight each other. Ennis didn't lift a finger while Ortiz petitioned for it. Stan being promoted by Schaefer at that time never wanted to fight on a GBP card. They didn't have a choice because they've got no offer coming from Showtime, thus Ennis camp.

Not only eight months, probably 2 years, which included the time when the Ortiz/Stanionis finally got canceled. Bozy and Boots were only interested in Barrios.

After the whole Ortiz debacle this was like the only fight that would've been excusable at 147 so good for Boots and Stanionis.

That being said who are they going to put on co-main? With the rest of the 115 beltholders busy possibly another voluntary defense by Bam?

Yes. Ortiz was 24 at that time. It was for the “regular” WBA belt. Winner was lined up to fight Spence or Crawford. Bootsy also didn’t “decide” to fight him. He’s fighting stannois INSTEAD of fighting Ortiz jr or any of the “big names” he called for. Stannois wouldn’t even be top 9 at 154. Crawford bek fundora Tim tyszu Ortiz jr Madrimov Bohachuk conwell xayas would all be ranked above him. He’s 28 in June. Doing what Ortiz jr was trying to do 2 years ago but he’s older now and the division is now barren. Thats the difference. As i pointed out the top 2 at WW wouldn’t even be in the top 9 at 154. That should tell you exactly why bootsy is taking this fight. If he wins he can tell everyone he’s the best WW in the world. And he’ll be right. Furthering the myth of bootsy ootsy ennis.
