Originally posted by BoxingSceneFury’s career is just about complete, too. No, he hasn’t fought Joshua, and that’s a fight that people have wanted for ages. But from a legacy perspective, it wouldn’t prove much. Their respective performances against Usyk, the Ukrainian’s affirmations that Fury is the best fighter he has faced, and their careers in general suggest fairly clearly that Fury is the better man than Joshua in the ring.

And to be honest there wasn't even a big disparity in their respective performances against Usyk. Joshua lost two competitive fights too, particularly the second one where he hurt Usyk to the body and looked like he might be on course to win before Usyk took it away from him in the championship rounds like the great fighter he is.
Originally posted by BoxingSceneFury is a near-certain Hall of Famer and has reigned as the lineal champ; Joshua is probably 40-60 to get in and never quite seized and held onto the top spot in the division.
I'd argue pretty strongly that Joshua held the top spot in the division right from his initial title win over Charles Martin in 2016 through to his defeat(s) to Usyk in 2021 (minus the blip to Ruiz in the middle). Joshua was 'the man' during that five-year period, nobody else.
Joshua's big mistake was opting to defend the belts against top contenders like a fool when the smart move would have been to retire for three years before returning in dominant fashion against the likes of Sefer Seferi, Francisco Pianeta and Tom Schwarz, and doing a first-rate PR job of conning the public (and even the so-called boxing experts) into believing that you were actually the real champion the whole time and deserve to be retroactively credited as such.

He should definitely stick with it, he’s taken so much punishment in his fights especially those wilder fights, should always think about health first, he has a beautiful family, he should go live rest of his days with them in happiness

While I'd pick Fury to beat AJ, it's not a foregone conclusion and I won't give him the win over AJ if he doesn't actually achieve it like this writer has and some people in this thread. "He'd beat AJ easily so there's not point in that fight happening."
That's not really the reason why the fight isn't as enticing as it once was. Both are on the decline, neither have a title and neither can claim to be the best in their era. That's why the fight is seemingly pointless. I remember similar rhetoric for the Ngannou and Usyk fights before they were confirmed, "Fury would school Ngannou....he's too big for Usyk...." and we saw what happened in those fights.
As for his retirement, he's had a very good career, a couple of great wins and can claim to be in the top 3 of his era. Fighting AJ to be "one of the best Brits" of their era might be worthwhile financially but won't do much for Fury's legacy (other than hurt it if he loses). So, I'm cool with him staying retired and ok with the AJ fight not happening but like everyone else, I'm not sure what this "retirement" is about. If it's legitimate then good luck to him, he will definitely be missed in the sport.

Tyson does have to fight josh. Otherwise we'd have been waiting for no reason. Only scenario where it need not happen, is if Tyson has said all along its not happening from the start.
But we know Tyson has said it's down to Josh ducking him?

I would love to see this fact
I’ve never heard any boxing analysts say that
Not one mentioned that Fury deserved any of those fights
I call bullchit on this one
Didn't have a dog and really dislike everything about Fury
He's the only one who thought he won

I would give Usyk both fights on that accord alone... After the first fight all Fury had to do was train to go hard for 3 more 3 minute rounds... He should have lost weight, and strategized accordingly. In both fights he was successful the early rounds ( a clue?). Of course Alexander is a slow starter, but even so, Fury neglected an obvious blueprint for better success. He came into the second fight in bad shape and seemingly with no blueprint.
