AB, stop with that BS. The truth is canelo refused to fight benavidez, declined to fight Morrell jr, left his rematch clause expired with bivol, benavidez wasn't in any position to fight canelo because the yellow cinnamon never had any intention to fight him, period. When he arrived at the division, he said, and I quote, "I won't fight any more Mexicans" referring of course to benavidez, he only went ahead for the unification after the american (let's not forget that the guy is not even Mexican) lost his belt. So what, he lost the belt? He was mandatory for two years and Morrell jr for three, and he never looked their way and fought a real Mexican after all, of course, another blown-up media star. He is a fraud.BrankoB likes this.

I'd be a lot harsher if Benavidez wasn't fighting Morrell soon but I'm sick of this topic. At this point, it's clear that Canelo will never fight him and it's obvious why. I hope this never comes up again but I know it's wishful thinking unfortunately.

Folks who are upset by this should not watch Canelo fights and heavily support Benavidez, but the reality is that Benavidez has few cash-paying fans to bring to the table and two Canelo fights are mega events irrespective of who he fights.

If you want to reduce the Canelo vs Benavidez controversy to ducking or not ducking that is fine by me, but I think it is a more complex economic issue worth discussing and understanding.Last edited by garfios; 12-29-2024, 06:27 PM.

As to your question, I have no idea who would pay that kind of money, but a question cannot be answered by another question but by verifiable facts alone. I am still interested to find out, what the "insane offer" was, if anything. It seems that a so-called reporter would ask Benavidez the obvious -- who made the offer, how much and when. Anything else is drivel.

Besides Canelo made around 40 million for each of the other fights under Haymon's banner. The reality is that Canelo doesn't give 2 figs what we think. For a grade school dropout he understands boxing is a business and knows the key in business is to manage risk and reward.
