One important detail is that Ortiz returned from inactivity four months before Stanionis did. The true issue is that Stani's team isn't serious about his career. The fact that Stani signed with PBC again was jaw-dropping. Supposedly he dropped Shelly Finkel and got a new manager, but he stayed with PBC? Basically nothing changed.
Stanionis had long stretches of inactivity under the Showtime umbrella. Ever wondered why Showtime never attempted to make Stanionis vs Ennis? They were both available for each other during those long stretches of time.

He has been mismanaged and his fight against Ortiz that got postponed a number of times did not help. Now he is 30 and is a high risk low reward fighter since basically he is almost unknown. He has been shafted by the business of boxing and the sanctioning bodies.

Stanionis vs Ennis was supposed to happen with zero promotional issues. Eimantas was at that time promoted by (Probellum) Richard Schaefer, one of the three stooges (Haymon, Spinoza), who overthrew GBP in a coup. Therefore Richard was an ally to Showtime and PBC.

Ennis had a window of 8 months to make an offer to Stan before Ortiz filed his petition. Schaefer never wanted the Ortiz fight for Stan because it meant dealing with Oscar, who he crossed and got sued for. They were desperate for fights within the Showtime perimeter. Even when the Otiz fight didn't materialize, Ennis still wasn't making any attempt to get Stan for his next fight at Showtime.

My assumption is that the fight made zero money and wouldn't have been for a title, so all parties involved didn't think it was worth it.

Sounds like more excuses for booty to duck fights.

True but I think Boots beats the brakes off BOTH!

Crazy how you all think Boots beats the brakes off everybody but Boots himself isn't in a rush to fight any threat. We can longer give him imaginary wins until the actual fights happen. Stanionis is actually a fine fighter who is leaps and bounds above the best Boots have fought so far. My guess is Boots is not taking that fight, too risky. Those Eastern Euro fighters are nothing to play with.
