He can definitely beat Mario for that wbc and a few other fighters. I doubt PBC allows him to fight a top rank or match room fighter unless they over pay them. They definitely need to match him to Mario because mario is going to lose that belt sooner rather then later and you don't want to lose it out of house lol.

In his defense, he went through 3 training camps to fight Ortiz, who kept getting pulled last minute. He got absolutely screwed, and that was when Ortiz was looking like a destroyer. His inactivity is 100% the fault of Ortiz and his promotion.

This. He's world class but I can't even remember the last time he fought.

He did get screwed with the Ortiz situation. I actually thought he was going to beat Ortiz. But that was a long time ago. He's had plenty of time to make fights since then.

Stanionis (and his team) is not entirely blameless. The first delay was because of Stani's emergency appendectomy. After the Ortiz fight went to hell and both sides went their separate ways, there was a stretch of time where Stani remained inactive. One important detail is that Ortiz returned from inactivity four months before Stanionis did. The true issue is that Stani's team isn't serious about his career. The fact that Stani signed with PBC again was jaw-dropping. Supposedly he dropped Shelly Finkel and got a new manager, but he stayed with PBC? Basically nothing changed.

He’s not going to be kept active being with PBC.
