Disappointingly, I do not see this happening yet - I think we'll need to wait until after 2026.

Sooo purse bid is next month, and then the fight would be scheduled for what....Jan/Feb 2025?
And according to the article, Scull must face the mandatory before April 19th.
Which means Pacehco or Mbilli will have 2-3 months at best to recover from their toughest match to date and go for the champ!

Is this the shortest versus the tallest at 168 ? I like both fighters. The size advantage of Pacheco is a lot to overcome. This is going to be a good fight, you can't go wrong with either of these two guys. Rationally I'm thinking Pacheco , emotionally I'm rooting Mbilli. The fans will be a winner in this one for sure.

Im keen to watch this sluggers matchup, the winner should get a shot at Canelo or Scull at the very least.

I don't have the official rules or anything but I think that if can get a contract signed and scheduled within the deadline, the actual fight can pass the deadline (within a common sense) as long as the mandatory challenger is good with it. Given that mandatory ordered are more for the mandatories to get their deserved chances and prevent the beltholder from holding the belt hostage for too long, it shouldn't be an issue if Pacheco/Mbilli fight on late January and negotiate to have it in May, especially considering this is Scull that they are facing, not Canelo.

This year, Emmanuel Rodriguez had a mandatory deadline due by April 16th, but with purse bids and other scheduling it ended up occurring on May but there weren't any issues about it.

The article already says that its an IBF eliminator to face Scull. Assuming both sides agree to the purse bid, I see something like:
Dec 10 - Purse bid (if they don't reach an agreement)
Mid/late January - Pacheco vs Mbilli
Late April/Early May - Scull vs winner of above
Late summer - Shishkin vs winner of above.

If one of them (Pacheco or Mbilli) rejects the purse bid, then I'd guess IBF will just automatically make the other one the mandatory who will then face Scull maybe around March, and the winner of that match will face Shishkin on July/Aug?

Exactly. Nothing wrong with two young contenders facing each other, but no, some fans wants to play managers/promoters/matchmaker, they prefer for this two to wait for canelo.

Mayweather playbook not only ruined the mindset of promoters and fighters, but also ruined the mentality of FANS to where they believe after this fight, one of them will become forever useless and a fraud and never again will see the sunlight shine.
Instead of yay two top contenders left in the division fighting, they think "why would they give up their zero before selling it to Canelo"...unbelievable.

Pacheco will face Steven Nelson in January.
