You are literally making my point for me. I’m not even sure you are disagreeing with me.

      I'm disagreeing with this:

"Paul is doing EXACTLY the same thing all the ATGs did. He just happens to be Uber famous and rich at this point in his career."

No ATG fighter, at the start of his career, ever did anything like what Jake Paul did by pulling a retired former ATG 30 years older than him out of retirement for a money grab mismatch.

Let’s cut to the chase. This main event was poorly scripted and choreographed. Mike wanted so desperately to hit this guy.

However, he just wouldn’t stand still long enough for a clean shot. Mike was only able to graze him with an occasional left hook due to Jake’s movement

Mike even had to fight off the back foot in order to entice Paul to come in so he could land a good punch on him.. However, luckily for Jake he never bit the bait.

Again, that’s because NONE of those ATG fighters had any clout to do so. They were not famous nor had any sort of leverage to warrant a fight against any aging ATG fighter.

Also, let’s assume that somehow a gold medal (think of Oscar or AJ) gave some of them a presence to get a fight with an ATG, it’s possible a fight could have happened ONLY if the ATG fighter was broke.

Tyson is doing this for money. Period.

The ATG Canelo is demanding $200 million to fight Benavidez. That tells you, for $200!million, Canelo may fight Jake Paul.

I love history and I love facts. They explain how we got to where are and provide a higher clarity on any discourse.

So, Canelo fought Javier Martinez in his 10th fight. That was Martinez’s boxing debut and he never fought again after that. In his 13th fight, Canelo fought Jesus Abel Hernandez whose record was 16-13.

Floyd fought Kino Rodriguez in his 5th fight. Kino’s record was 9-9. In his 11th fight he fought Filipe Garcia who was 14-19.

I could go on and on about all the other guys and show you how they were “padding” their records while getting experience, exposure, skills and a payday.

Anthony Joshua is an Olympic gold medalist. Take a look at his record when he was starting out professionally.

More important, I specifically said I don’t care for exhibitions or such nonsensical fights so I was never on board with last night’s fight.
Sure Floyd and Canelo and many other HOF boxers padded their early records with debut fighters and 0-X fighters, but none of them padded their records with a Youtuber, a basketball player, or aged out old UFC fighters. Maybe if they had the opportunity to they would've, who knows. But the point I'm making is Jake wants to be seen as a legitimate boxer and not a sideshow boxer and yet here he is, just having fought a 58 year old man. Previously Jake wanted to fight Nico Ali Walsh because of his last name. Nico is a middleweight; Jake is a cruiserweight. Now Jake is calling out Connor McGregor again. At some point given who Jake wants to fight you have to ask yourself: are you watching a legitimate boxer grow, learning on the job, or are you watching a guy that is more focused on making money by fighting in sideshow fights?

I peeked at Anthony Joshua's record and he actually has a pretty good early resume, even fighting for a minor WBC belt in his 9th fight.

I’m not disagreeing with you about Jake Paul. This is just a different era and logic tells us that all those ATG fighters we speak of, had they had the same opportunities to make millions fighting similar guys like Jake, I’m pretty sure they would have taken it.

Think about how many boxers have turned down fights because they weren’t happy with the purse offered. Norman Jr just turned down $1.2 million to fight Boots. You think he’d turned down $5 million to fight a popular YouTuber? Very unlikely.

Canelo has made it clear he is not fighting Benavidez for less than $200 million. What if Jake Paul can offer him $200 million, would he turn it down?
