Paul is doing EXACTLY the same thing all the ATGs did. He just happens to be Uber famous and rich at this point in his career.

Stop the cap he is not. Paul is in his 4th year as a pro, most of those guys were world champs by then. You are ignoring that elite pros fight like 8 times a year when starting out.

Two we're making their pro debuts, nine had a winning record and they averaged 2.7 fights of experience prior to facing Alvarez. Canelo settled for a split draw with one of them. While Alvarez was fairly young, I have to imagine that none of the dudes had much amateur or Olympic experience.

I don't particularly like Paul. I don't think I ever wanted him to win in any of his fights and I don't think he's a likable character. Despite this, I also think he gets alot unfair criticism for his level of competition. The market typically dictates what someone is paid and the level of attention someone receives. I had more casuals telling me they were going to watch this event than any traditional boxing match that I can recall. Hopefully they tuned in to the Barrios/Ramos and Serrano/Taylor fights and got exposed to real boxing in the process.
Did canelo take 4 years to fight 10 guys? Also were they his own weight class? And in fact he was 16 fight guys in their 20s. Jake was in his mid 20s on gear fighting wrestlers in their 40s and now a 58 year old in a fake fight

Man i would prefer to remember his just as a young bad dude with a nasty attitude then to see what he was last night, just another old man being an embarrassment to himself trying to be young again. But i was not offended i knew it was a circus one i had to check out esp for the price.
the only good that might come out of this card is if NetFlix decides to put on some solid fight cards without the circus act. I respect he grabbed the money who would not ?
An old man is an old man. Some old men are in legitimately good shape. Mike Tyson is an old 58. The drug use, partying, etc shows on his body. He moved around like a 70 year old man.

Jake wants to be recognized as a legitimate boxer that's why he looks down his nose at youtubers boxing, but out of Jake's 12 fights he's only faced 3 active boxers and I use the word 'active' lightly. If you're fine with Jake Paul fighting a 58 year old Mike Tyson you should also be fine with someone like Richard Torres jr or Bakhodir Jalolov fighting Tyson, those two are similar in age to Paul with about the same number of fights.

I love history and I love facts. They explain how we got to where are and provide a higher clarity on any discourse.

So, Canelo fought Javier Martinez in his 10th fight. That was Martinez’s boxing debut and he never fought again after that. In his 13th fight, Canelo fought Jesus Abel Hernandez whose record was 16-13.

Floyd fought Kino Rodriguez in his 5th fight. Kino’s record was 9-9. In his 11th fight he fought Filipe Garcia who was 14-19.

I could go on and on about all the other guys and show you how they were “padding” their records while getting experience, exposure, skills and a payday.

Anthony Joshua is an Olympic gold medalist. Take a look at his record when he was starting out professionally.

More important, I specifically said I don’t care for exhibitions or such nonsensical fights so I was never on board with last night’s fight.

Nelo was barely a teen when he started
Plenty of HOFers from waaaaaay back when fought debut guys well after their 50th fight
A ton of guys with less than 10 Ws and more than 20 L's
They say stay busy fights were a good thing

JP is a joke that isn't funny nor entertaining.
Can't see why a person would willingly watch him fight.
                  IDKSB his youtube chan.

You seem to think I’m praising or supporting Jake Paul.
The pros you speak of fought 8 times a year because they were getting paid peanuts and needed exposure to build a career.
Jake is getting paid millions and was already famous before he got into boxing, He does not need to fight 8 times a year in fact if he did, he would dilute is brand.

We live in a different era.

Again, just to be clear, I don’t care about Jake Paul but I understand his hustle.

                      From their POV, why not
                      From a non participants POV.....

                      I just don't get it.
