Great article, but meh. If he wants to buy the rotting corpse of Ring out of vanity or reverence for its history, rather than starting a new publication, so be it. Everyone is welcome to compete with him and if he disappoints the fans it’ll just make it easier, the way the old guard of boxing promotion and irrelevant alphabet sanctioning bodies left the lane wide open for him to take over. For now he’s making boxing more interesting than it’s been in ages.

Our country is openly supporting a government that has killed over 100 journalists in the last year, often in deliberate, documented ways. I mention this not to dismiss your concerns or to argue that two wrongs make a right, but to point out that dismissing The Ring revamp over the crime of Khashoggi paints reporters into a corner and holds them to a standard that neither our government, nor the different American business concerns that trade with the kingdom, nor ourselves, who benefit from cheaper oil, are being held to. I am more concerned, however, about the conflict of interest of a promotional entity publishing a magazine that’s supposed to be impartial and handing out belts that should be awarded according to strict boxing criteria. In this, I share your opinion that the best we can do k is wait and see how The Ring operates editorially even if at this early stage its ownership already raises many legitimate doubts.

(And I have no idea why the word “magazine” in my earlier post is being covered with asterisks as if it was foul language.)

Yes, I'd call Charles Chuckles. It'd be a highlight moment.

If you don't respect it, that's not my fault. I was raised right, that's the difference.
