Anyone who believes that Turki will is committed to “editorial trust,”is completely delusional. That’s like me trying to convince you that the National dish in Saudi Arabia is sautéed pigs feet. How about me trying to convince you that Turki practices Catholicism and has a King James Version of the Bible at his bedside? Better yet, my trying to convince you that a Shia woman is going to rule the monarchy? I think you get the picture, “editorial trust” in Saudi Arabia is nonexistent.

Transparency in Saudi journalism is also nonexistent. You could have asked that question to Jamal Khashoggi, a
    U. S. resident and writer for The Washington Post, and critic of the monarchy who on October 2, 2018 went to the Saudi embassy in Istanbul for a marriage license and was dismembered because of his opposition to the monarchy and criticism of the Saudi Crown Prince.

“Editorial Trust” transparency, from anyone in Saudi? Gimme a effin break.

Funny how veteran boxing writers are shocked and offended that boxing's virtue is being tarnished by a guy like Turki. It was so much more pure and righteous in the days when Don King tried to buy and control everything. Get over it. Its a free-market sport called prize-fighting. He who offers the biggest prizes, wields the most power. Just like this same writer will write for whomever pays him the most.

Lot of folks are bending the knee to him, and now with him buying and controlling the media, he has bigger ambitions
We need to thanks this man for life for rescuing boxing. This man has shown so far to be a great human being, that he's a consummate professional, that he's about transparency and making the best fight possible. For decades, we have been mistreated, lied and given as much garbage as a fight as posible because it was that or nothing.

This man has earned the respect of so much ppl, including my self. I put my ego aside and I call this man "His Excellency" Turki Alalshikh and it's fine for me. In his culture it's like that I respect it and more someone who deserves it this much as him.

So, enjoy the new era of boxing my friend!

"Some of that probably had to do with certain other world news distracting me."

Kind of gloomy view! Sure, western civilization is on the decline, and boxing much more. Its trademarks are paper champions who carefully avoid each
other, disgusting verbiage, clownish ABC rating agencies selling trinkets, and vicious abnormalities like the influencers’ bouts. What can be
worse? Also, governments are entangled in fishy action, there isn't a need to check who is more polluted. Therefore the selfish boxing fan I am,
totally indifferent to the world’s future, I feel grateful to all the “excellencies “ of the world for bringing me meaningful matches of a different kind than the paid “beating encounters” thrown to “aficionados” with less care than base food for pigs! Keep smiling…

Great article, Raskin was brutally honest in his self analysis. I love the Ring stopped following it when they stopped printing and now subscribe to boxing news from the UK. I worked for ring, I covered the Edwin Valeros first title fight with them in Panama and did their interviews with Barrera, Morales, and Marquez. I asked Nigel Collins that if they were truly independent then why didn't they publish Oscar's pics in fishnet stalkings and reminded him that they had posted pics of Mike Tysons smashed BMW years before. He said, "I don't think those are real." Nobody is perfect and we all have to toe the line, but the Ring was shady when Don King manipulated thr ratings for that ABC torney and I think even mode shady when Oscar De La Hoya bought it. It's tough making money writing about boxing. Except for a handful of guys most of the writers are starving, but they get to go to the fights ringside and that worth something. Steve Farhood is the best writer/expert in boxing if the Turk wants to get the Ring going hire Steve Farhood.

How is this any different from how PBC or Top Rank have been operating like for years?

I suppose you have no recollection of the two Reuters journalists that we killed in 2007?
I will refresh your memory. Have a read below

As for the other examples, I’m guessing Fox News and CNN are just as trustworthy as the crown prince, no?

Fantastic read! Boxing has always and will always have its scummy elements but the soul of boxing will turn on this costly experiment sooner or later and all the money in the world wont protect this man from an ass kicking…granted it will be the most expensive ass kicking in the history of the sport but one thing is for sure ….it will happen.
