You have no idea what you're talking about or looking at if you think Pereira is stiff and hittable. His style is predicated on not getting hit and countering, and he's one of the loosest, most relaxed fighters in all of combat sports. Which is why it's so hard to hit him clean, and why he can spar pro boxers and give them good work. He's sparred the likes of Dempsey McKean and Zhang Zhilei and they both had a lot of good things to say about his ability. Heck, he was an amateur boxer before anything, with a 100% KO rate iirc.

Ive watched him since he first went to Glory like a decade ago. He is flat footed, upright,not very quick and doesnt have the best chin either. His way above average size, range and power for the weight classes he competes in (plus him competing against pretty basic MMA strikers) are the main reason hes effective. His kicks and knees are a big part of his game as well and that dual threat makes it easier for him to land punches than if it was pure boxing.

Did you forget he got knocked out cold last year by a fading 185'er too? basic AF journeyman striker Khalil just gave him a decent fight as well. He has zero chance of getting anywhere in boxing outside of leveraging his name into a few paydays Ngannou style.

Canelo is only big in the US and Mexico where the popularity of the sport is dwindling anyway. The rest of the world don't care about him.

The likes of Fury and AJ have been fighting in front of bigger crowds than Canelo.

That 5% I left out of the of the 100% being laughable was Tommy Fury. We saw what happens when he faced a young, in his prime boxer. Too bad Tommy didn't have much pop.

Yeah, I think that was the most exposure Tommy was ever going to get in his career at this point and Jake isn't bout to rematch him anytime soon or probably ever. To be fair AJ and Fury fighting in front of bigger crowds doesn't equal world wide views. I still think Canelo is higher in that regards. Of course AJ and Fury would be massive in the UK. All of the UK tunes in. It's what happens living on an island. Fish bowl lifestyle. Easy to attach yourself to the biggest thing you got going on. It doesn't mean the entire world is following the same way the island does.

Canelo has crossed many boundaries in the sport over his years. He basically became a name facing Mayweather when he was what? 22 years old? Since then, eyes have been on him and he only got more and more popular with his wins.
