I wish I was joking, but look how he puts on his events. He does draw crowds and an audience. This despite his competition being laughable 95% of the time. I really hope he doesn't become the face when we have actually talented boxers out there that deserve more attention but end up in the shadows of JP just cause they aren't as loud mouthed as him.

People be acting like Inoue isn't already a PPV star... He broke the viewership record in Japan vs Nery and sold out the 43,000 available seats at the Tokyo Dome, and may have gotten over 800,000 buys vs Doheny.

Let's also put things in perspective. Tank Davis made 1 million each fight vs Ruiz, Gamboa, and Santa Cruz. He made 2 million vs Isaac Cruz. Vs Ryan Garcia, he made 5 million after PPV cut. Inoue made 5.7 million just from the Fulton fight. Over 6.5 million vs Nery. Inoue already makes more money in Japan than the biggest US star below welterweight makes here.

From the financial side and general drawing ability, it's pretty clear that Jake Paul is the most likely candidate, unfortunately, even if his fans don't really cross over into actual boxing. US fans have proven already that they're too stoopid to value the lighter divisions, so, as much of a fan as I am of Bam, and despite how popular he is here, I don't really see him crossing into mainstream awareness enough to eclipse Inoue's draw in Japan.

The US simply isn't the market that it once was. Alex Pereira is more likely to be the next face of combat sports in the US than anyone else, IMO. Maybe he'll cross over eventually. He's done some hard spars with pro heavyweight boxers.

In the US it defers to Tank but also theres Ryan, Haney, Boots, Shakur, Teo, Benavidez, Ortiz, Torrez etc all in their 20s still. Maybe none of them will be as big as Canelo individually but its a decent enough mix of US talent to keep things going fine. In the UK obviously Dubois is only 27 so all good there.

Theres no need to worry imho. We do this doom and gloom **** every generation but something new will always come along to get peoples attention.

Hes pushing 40 already. His time in combat sports in general is very limited imo. The UFC are trying to milk what they can before he starts losing. If he ever comes to boxing it'll be an Ngannou esque novelty thing rather than him actually properly crossing over. I dont think hes well suited for boxing either tbh. Good power but hes stiff and hittable.

You have no idea what you're talking about or looking at if you think Pereira is stiff and hittable. His style is predicated on not getting hit and countering, and he's one of the loosest, most relaxed fighters in all of combat sports. Which is why it's so hard to hit him clean, and why he can spar pro boxers and give them good work. He's sparred the likes of Dempsey McKean and Zhang Zhilei and they both had a lot of good things to say about his ability. Heck, he was an amateur boxer before anything, with a 100% KO rate iirc.

That’s what 20 million followers gets you BUT when he does fight a legitimate fight or fighter should I say , that will totally change everything

Netflix said it did 46m streams, smashed all records. I'm not sure whether Mike Tyson or Jake Paul was the primary draw though. Does Tyson v Logan Paul do similar numbers? Possibly, but does Jake Paul do those numbers with anyone else?

Is he wrong though, is Tank the next most popular fighter in North America by the numbers?

That 5% I left out of the of the 100% being laughable was Tommy Fury. We saw what happens when he faced a young, in his prime boxer. Too bad Tommy didn't have much pop.
