What Bivol Must Do in the Rematch to Produce a Better Win Than Artur’s Victory Over Biv

hugh grant near 40 Artur getting a decision over Biv in their first fight is a great win

Biv needs something greater than doing 116-112/8-4 in fight 2 to surpass the decision for Artur

Sweeping the final third of a full 12 rounds and punctuating the win by knocking Bet down would do the trick

Or better yet Biv stopping Bet in the 11th round

What he needs to do differently is win more rounds than Beterbiev.

Beterbiev didn't budge at Bivol's best shots... Bivol was pushed away 3 feet any time he got caught fair and square or blocked the right hand (destroyed cheek as evidence)... How in the world can he KO Artur besides the lucky shot ?

His activity level was much lower than usual because Beterbiev hits so hard. Really was a masterful fight from both. I thought he edged it, but he's gonna need to press the issue more in the rematch, and that will give Artur more opportunities. Beterbiev proved that he's a better boxer than he often gets credit for, and his ability to cut the ring was on par with Bivol's masterful defense. IMO both guys stock should go up after that fight.

Artur was hurt by a left hook in round 7

          Art’s legs said it

then Biv backed Art onto the ropes with combos

Biv got greedy and took a counter right

which stopped the momentum from the left hook that hurt Art

I will need to rewatch the fight. Biv left hook wasn’t there in the last 3 to 4 rounds.

Throw more punches and box more. easier said than done, because it was Artur`s power that prevented Bivol from doing that.

Bivol needs to FINISH rounds as strongly as he started them as Beterbiev stole too many rounds with flurries of activity in the last 30-40 seconds. Also, he needs to prevent Artur from putting him on the back foot for most of the round (like the championship rounds) as the judges will automatically score those for Beterbiev as the aggressor.

If he can make these two adjustments (and his chin holds up), I give him a GOOD shot at winning the rematch.

Stay off the ropes. Any time that artur had him on the ropes, bivol would put his earmuffs on,and even if the punches were landing on the gloves,it still made it look like he was taking damage.
Up the activity. There were rounds that bivol took the foot off the gas,and let artur set the pace, which is not a smart idea when you're against a heavy hitter.
Avoid throwing the hooks, and focus on the 1-2. Bivol is the faster fighter, and the cleaner boxer. Multiple times he was able to catch Artur clean, when he we resetting or in between punches. Bivol would get caught while throwing wide hooks,or overcommitted in the combination.
Work the body. On more than one occasion, bivol clipped Artur on the ribs, and you could visibly see the discomfort on his face, followed by Artur dropping his left elbow to protect his body.

All in all,Bivol is the younger, faster, cleaner boxer. He can improve, and he can adjust. Artur is nearing 40,and won't be getting any better.

lol why’d you think Biv would get stopped before the bout

big punchers don’t finish their career with a stoppage in all fights

Biv’s next fight will be the start of his prime

Biv needs to box like a pro from here on out: win every minute of every round

Shift away from his amateur boxing mindset: up on points so disengage and chill. He done this ish in prior fights where he’s much better than his opponents. This don’t fly in pro boxing against the elite of the elite

                  good analysis

I’d add that the Biv headshot that most hurt Bet was a left hook

what he wants to avoid is trading hooks. Art got the better of that

Biv has to properly set the left hook up with a jab feint or off of the 2

Biv was happy to counter the jab with a jab

he would lead with the body jab too

but I don’t remember Biv using the jab downstairs to counter Bet’s jab
