Biv needs something greater than doing 116-112/8-4 in fight 2 to surpass the decision for Artur

Sweeping the final third of a full 12 rounds and punctuating the win by knocking Bet down would do the trick

Or better yet Biv stopping Bet in the 11th round
Think we already seen there wont be no stoppages. Bivol did just about everything right. I think Artur looked old. Will look older in another year. Probably get the win then.

big punchers don’t finish their career with a stoppage in all fights

Biv’s next fight will be the start of his prime

Biv needs to box like a pro from here on out: win every minute of every round

Shift away from his amateur boxing mindset: up on points so disengage and chill. He done this ish in prior fights where he’s much better than his opponents. This don’t fly in pro boxing against the elite of the elite

      good analysis

I’d add that the Biv headshot that most hurt Bet was a left hook

what he wants to avoid is trading hooks. Art got the better of that

Biv has to properly set the left hook up with a jab feint or off of the 2
Agreed...Bivol definitely needs to fight EVERY minute of every round in the rematch as there were several rounds which Artur stole at the death where Bivol was winning. Also, it looked like he took the championship rounds OFF whereas Beterbiev pressed forward and was by far the busier fighter (probably because his corner told him he needed a KO). Even though a LOT of punches were blocked by Bivol, I can understand why the judges awarded Beterbiev those rounds due to Bivol's inactivity. I don't know whether Bivol was fatigued or secretly hurt from the accumulation of punches or both, but he was up (or even) on 2 of the 3 judges scorecards before the championship rounds which ALL 3 judges (including myself) awarded to Beterbiev.

So you think he'll do better in a year against Worserbiev?

I guess Biv winning 9-3 or 8-4 in the rematch could see him as the bigger victor of their 24 rounds

Because fight 1 sentiment 55% thought Biv won while 45% thought Bet won

Agreed...I picked Beterbiev to win too but it looks like his age and injuries are finally catching up with him as this was the CLOSEST fight of his career and the first opponent he couldn't get out of there. Therefore, if Bivol manages to make a few adjustments like staying busy the ENTIRE round and not taking rounds off, he has a good shot at winning the rematch.

I don’t think there is much he can do differently. If he sits down on his punches more, chances are he gets clipped and stopped himself. He stopped trading punches like in the early rounds because he didn’t like what he was getting hit with.

Win some late rounds. I had him up 6-3 but Beterbiev won the last 3.

The thing is- Bivol effectively executed the correct game plan against Beterbiev. Different judges might have given him the fight.

Bivol could take more risks but I think what we saw Saturday showed that he flew about as close to the sun as he could without more detrimental consequences.
The main thing we learned was that Bivol's best shots weren't enough of a threat to change anything about Beterbiev.

Great fight- very tough night for both guys. I don't know that the rematch particularly favors one guy more than the other given the age factor and the level these guys operate at.
