If you don't care, then you might want to ask yourself why you are in a thread entitled:

"Mayweather Should Get The Most Money, Says Schaefer "

I care about sales for two reasons

    1) It is both my business and a personal interest
    2) I realize that money is (largely) the reason high-level fights get made or don't get made

If PPV sales were irrelevant, then why does HBO release them, why do promoters talk about them incessantly, and why are there trade pubs devoted to them?

Before boxing was anything else, it was a SPORT, and still is a sport. And that sport is about which fighters are the best, not about which fighters sell the most. I could care less what the PPV numbers do. I will PAY to see Cotto fight Pacqauiao because Manny is challenging himself, and Cotto hasn't turned down any challenges. I will NEVER buy another Mayweather fight because he only seems to cherrypick fighters who have no chance of beating him.

I'm no casual fan, I care because this argument over money will hold up the fight.

I don't think Mayweather is demanding anything crazy. He is the biggest boxer right now.

was pacquiao the A-side attraction against oscar? against hatton? NO

and both of those fights sold less than mayweather against the same opponents. what's the highest PPV buy rate cotto has ever done?

        schafer's right. period.
Scheafer is capitalizing on this particular PPV. Put Floyd in with another fighters that isn't a marquee fighter and I can practically guarantee the **** wont sell. You all act like Marquez and the Mexican audience had NOTHING to do with those sales. And I can gaurantee you this fight coming up will do BIG numbers. Then Mayweather fans will be jumping off bridges in large numbers because they will have nothing else to use to elevate Floyd with. The Oscar fight didn't do as well because people despised him for fighting such a smaller fighter. And the Hatton fight didnt do well because Hatton was damaged goods after the knockout. You think if Hatton would have been knocked out prior to the Mayweather fight that it would have sold as well. That was simply about TIMING.

The ONLY reason this fight sold the way it did is because Floyd was gone for 2 years. Put Floyd in with a fighter who can't help him carry a PPV i.e. Judah, Baldomir, and we see where the numbers are.
Floyd was on the B side of the fight with Oscar.

          Floyd sold the Hatton PPV
          Floyd sold the Gatti PPV

I invite you to tell me how many PPV sales that Gatti or Hatton had before Floyd. Thanks in advance.

Now that is about as dumb as a defense that you could possibly come up with. It's YOUR business how much money he makes and it is a PERSONAL interest. You are taking that username too seriously. And if money is the reason high level fights get made, YOU TELL ME what fight will generate more money outside of Mosley/Mayweather? Cause according to Mayweather FANatics, Cotto doesn't sell, and Pacquiao doesn't sell. And neither one of them didnt get in his face to challenge him. In fact neither one of them has mentioned his name as a possible opponent. And if casual boxing fans didnt know who Shane Mosley was prior to him jumpin in Floyds face and challenging him, they know who the guy who had Floyd stuttering is now.

You are HILARIOUS. To say Hatton wasnt a PPV attraction prior to the Mayweather fight omits the fact that Hatton had how many fights in the States prior to? Which fighter had the bigger following, Hatton or Mayweather? Which fighter generated more revenue in their career, Hatton or Mayweather? And as a fan, if Floyd would have chosen to fight Hatton in Manchester, how many of Floyd's fans would have ponied up to go across the pond to cheer him on? NILCH, NADA, ZERO. So lets not play that game.

And that Gatti fight would have done the same amount of numbers if Floyd wouldn't have been a disrespectful *******. I watched that fight to see Gatti, not Floyd.

              Hilarious......

Yes. I am saying that. ON THE RECORD.

marquez had a PPV with Casamayor. A name fighter for hardcores. That fight did 100K buys. In Marquez' next fight, he had to go to Houston to fight Juan Diaz at his house on WCB.

Mexican fans bought this fight. Absolutely. They bought it to see one of their finest champions fight "FLOYD MAYWEATHER". Just like the British fans bought to see Ricky fihght "FLOYD MAYWEATHER".

They were not buying to see those guys fight Diaz or castillo or casamayor or Collazo.

Scribe... you are throwing a real "hater" vibe. Stop yourself. Since you aren't convincing anyone, just wait til the "Firepower" sales come out. And if/when that sells 1.5 million, you can find me on here and say 'I told you so".

THREE FIGHTS. THREE. All on HBO.

How many of them were sold out? Zero.

How many of them were PPV? Zero.

Dude, take 24/7 out and you see the results. That's the biggest promotional tool. Take that away, and Floyd sells squat. Take away the 2 year absence, and the boy sells squat. PLEASE let's not ignore those factors.

                    • BOXINGSCRIBE got a lot of excuses why Floyd ain't what he say he is and why the #s don't say hatton or Pacquiao or etc aren't what he says they is...if that makes any sense.
