That is the flaw in your logic. you are a self-described "hardcore" fan. Then I assume that you watched gatti-Dorin and gatti-leija and gatti-branco.

But guess what? The mainstream fan did not. Don't put yourself in the position of the mainstream fan.

If Gatti was a PPV attraction, he would have had other fights on PPV. Arturo was interested in money. and Time-Warner is a profit-driven corporation. If they thought they can make PPV money off Gatti-Ward, it would have been on PPV . Trust that.

Exactly. Hatton didn't have a great following in the US when he came over. Therefore they had to build him up until he could sell a PPV. Lets go back to Mayweather/Gatti. How many fights did Floyd have in the US? How many were on HBO? How many were on PPV prior to the Gatti fight? NOW, how many PPV's numbers did he do in his first PPV against Gatti? Compare Floyd's first PPV numbers against Gatti and Hatton's first PPV. And you all are saying Floyd carried that fight?

that's ******. Mayweather and Pacquiao will probably happen anyway. Too much money, makes too much sense. If Arum wants the bigger half of the purse, it means he doesn't want Pacquiao to fight Mayweather.

          So why Jones/Calzaghe didn't do huge #s?

Let's recap your excuses so far:

            1) It was all a matter of timing

            2) It was because floyd was away two years

            3) it was always floyd's opponents selling

            4) it was due to 24/7

            5) it was only the mexican fans that bought.

            ...what am I missing?

That's because Floyd and GBP are the only ones talking about PPV numbers which gets Floyds fans all in a huff. Floyd isn't a great PPV draw. Floyd talks like he was the reason the Oscar fight sold and the Hatton fight sold yet people seem to forget that prior to Oscar and Hatton, he barely did 350k against Gatti and his numbers for Judah and Baldomir were ATROCIOUS. YET, he is the greatest PPV draw against established fighters.

How many fights did Calzaghe have in the US prior to the Hopkins fight? And Jones was still viewed as a great and formidable opponent? I mean did you really ask why THAT particular fight didn't sell well?

but yet Floyd has more PPV #s and generated more $$$ than hatton and gatti and JMM. about 400 k against judah is atrocius????

out of any active fighter, he has the most #s. period. that's a fact!

Gatti was a gate-seller. in NY/ NJ. Period. Never a PPV seller.

Floyd developed that "bad guy" persona and that sold the fight. How do I know that gatti didn't sell the PPV? Arturo never sold one before or after. And then after Gatti, Floyd sold even more with Zab Freakin' Judah who was coming off a loss.

                    True Story
