Fighters who were in tough fights and surprisingly ended up NOT being punch drunk

Guys like George Foreman, George Chuvalo, and Julio Chavez come to mind. Meanwhile a "defensive" guy like Pernell Whitaker ended up slurring his words a bit before his death.

Man, it’s true. Chuvalo, especially, took a lot of punishment. Must be a genetic thing. As with anything else, some people are just built for it. Look at poor Wilfredo Benitez, a man famous for his defense — “El Radar”. Dude is a real mess these days.

Just because the signs aren't immediately visible to you in short segments listening to them speak doesn't mean the damage isn't there.

yeah or there could be other issues. i do remember always thinking foreman looked great for his age, sounded very alert but also now remember him saying before his hands were ***ed up from the years of boxing. i dont remember if it was like arthritis or what.

SRL i used to remember him always being super alert but then lately i noticed he is a little loopy acting

Chris Eubank speaks exactly the same as he did when he was preparing to fight Benn the first time.

That man was in some real wars.

In fact, Chuvalo suffered from serious dementia in the final years of his life. Sometimes the effects appear all of a sudden, and become more serious after a period of apparent normality.

All things considered Sugar Leonard won boxing

he emerged victorious with most of his mind intact and kept a lot of his boxing earnings

Other fighters I consider having won boxing George Foreman Larry Holmez Oscar de La Hoya Mayweather

Oscar is fortunate his coke habit didn’t ruin him

I believe it's more Manny Pacquiao's shots that ruined his psyche AND his brain. Coke is probably going to act as a door opener for future brain issues. Punches taken and drugs have always been a lethal combination for fighters.

Having said that, and as much as I dislike De La Hoya as a person, I'm definitely not wishing that to happen to him, or to anyone else for that matter.
