  • Rjj at smw - overrated?

Love Roy but don’t get the SMW talk. He had what, 3 fights there? Toney, alright. Some bum and like a terribly undersized, past it Vinny Paz.

    Am I missing something?

    Don’t get the SMW talk.

head-to-head I suspect he smokes the greats but just speculation, right?

I suspect many fighters would do all sorts but it means nada, resumes, accomplishments, defences etc do when it comes to rankings, why is Roy any different? Yeah it’s Roy but still

I just don’t see how you put him ahead of Froch at SMW or Ward etc
longevity, proven at the weight through and through

Almost entirely based of his H2H ability.

And his total domination over Toney who most consider a Top 10 SMW.

I agree with you, his resume is weak there. It's only a discussion because of how weak the division is historically.

His resume isn't all that at 168 but I have a difficult time putting fighters over him that we all know he'd defeat easily.

Who are you picking to beat him? That's what people mean.

And by the way, he made 5 successful defenses at 168. So 6 fights at the weight, not 3. Not exactly a murder's row, mind you, but you might as well get the facts right. He beat James Toney for the belt and then defended it against Antoine Byrd, Vinny Paz, Tony Thornton, Eric Lucas, and Bryant Bannon.

His accolades at 168 are somewhat forgettable but his performances are unforgettable. His performance against Toney was arguably a career best.

The man is so overrated and everybody with a pulse beat James Toney. The man lost more times than that overrated journeyman Sam Langford. Roy Jones got battered by the older Joe Calzaghe, so imagine what a prime Cobra would do to him. Carl Froch is an international superstar and that's just a fact. Froch beats Jones and Toney at the same time, even under the tutorship of his best friend, rival and fellow great, Saint George Groves. Cash in - His Excellency

                    - - Yeah, missing something is why U don't get it.

Roy, Ks, and Tyson are one of the few fighters almost always ahead in points regardless of final results. He ranks highly because of division hopping as he grew out of divisions and overall dominance until he started talking retirement during the Ruiz training.
