Berlanga…I don’t know what he has to make it interesting. His power? He hasn’t stopped anybody nor come close aside from his last opponent, and it wasn’t a “wow, that kid has ‘it’!”

Berlanga is like Munguia but worse overall.

It’s like taking a car and exchanging its body frame for something more brittle (questionable chin), low to average RPM’s (punches per round), and not knowing how the engine’s going to perform when rev it up for the first time ON THE DAY OF THE RACE.

Nobody knows how Berlanga is going to perform once he sees the fight environment is a Canelo atmosphere where HE’S the star. Munguia at least passed the gut check.

And I didn’t think he was going to blow out Chenko like most did cause Chenko is a hard fighter to go in with. Sort of like Provodnikov back in his day.

Chenko gave GGG problems, Daniel Jacobs problems, Carlos Adames problems. Only guy to get by relatively by Chenko was, surprisingly, Jermall Charlo. And, as of a couple weeks ago, Christian Mbilli as apparently the wheels have fallen off the Chenko bus as his arm became incapacitated.
So we agreed. He wasn't good enough to jump to front, and that's why he was chosen. All those hard fought fights vs Jacobs, ggg and adames you forgot a very important detail, I don't if it was by design or you genuinely forgot, deryvachenco was younger without the wear and tear of those fights.

So u have a problem with Munguia fighting Canelo over Benavidez but u were defending Benavidez fighting Jesse Hart over Morrell. Gotcha

No one said he was good enough to jump in front of Benavidez, we said it was not a bad fight, much better than Berlanga. The fight was also smart from a business standpoint because Munguia is huge in Mexico which is why it was the most watched Canelo fight in Latin America.

Munguia is on a totally different level. He had been in with guys like Sadam Ali, Liam Smith, Kamil Szeremeta, Gabe Rosado, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, and John Ryder before the Canelo fight. Not exactly a murderer's row but those are solid guys who have been at the world level.

Berlanga's best opposition is several levels below that: Angulo, Rolls, Quigley, McCrory.

It will be a monumental upset if Berlanga were to beat Alvarez. A far, far more shocking surprise than if Munguia or Charlo or even Ryder had pulled it off.

I have a feeling there is going to be a massive upset on this card, but it won’t be Berlanga. He is good in the sense that he’s better than everyone he’s beat. That’s it. If Canelo can’t KO this kid early, then he’s off the decline and officially done.

I rate Berlanga as a good C level fighter who has fought tomato cans for a long time. He is young and has good power though. He needs a top level boxing trainer to bring the best out in him.

Defending who? I have a problem with any boxer that can choose their opponents, and fights the weakest they can find. If you read a post where I'm defending this benavidez vs hart fight, please direct me to it so I can fix it.

                  It was a farce.
