Why should 34 old Canelo fight Benavidez now?

Benavidez brings nothing to the table. No belt. No legacy. Nothing.

He is a high risk low reward fight. Cash cows don't take that kind of fights.

let canelo fight his jojo's so & u can go watch the ppv and buy the kings mug

benny fight would do much better numbers than a berlanga fight & it would bring legacy because hes seen as a tough undefeated guy

canelo has form for this as well, he dropped his belt for ggg and waited and only fought him after he didnt look so hot v jacobs, its the way canelo operates when faced with potential harder fights, he runs away

Because he is the "champion"? Because other boxers most older than him like Cotto, Mosley, Floyd, ggg, baldomir and so on, gave him the opportunity to became known. He really is a fraud and his fans are clueless about boxing. If he's as fragil as you guys think he is, ask him to vacate and join Paul I'm the exhibition circuit.

I'm not sure what's more impressive, the mental gymnastics of Canelo for justifying who he fights or doesn't fight or the mental gymnastics of Canelo's fans trying to defend him.

I'm not even a fan of Benavidez but why even bother having mandatories if the champion isn't required to fight them? Yeah Benavidez messed up when he was a belt holder, he also positioned himself as the mandatory and Canelo swerved him. Plain and simple.

I couldn't care about Canelo less. But it is what it is. In pro boxing, guys usually take hard fights only when they have to. Otherwise they all prefer taking easy fights for a good money.

There is nothing to justify. Canelo took enough risks in his career. Now he is just doing what all other guys prefer to do when they have a choice.

Bottom line is everyone in this sport, promoters, trainers, commentators, fans need to discourage this waiting game. Fighters need to chart the course of their own destinies and not rely on one or two fighters that can only fight one guy at a time. Guys at ProboxTV should start a conversation about the waiting game in this sport.

They say time is money and wasting time is wasting money. But not in this sport. It's investing in the opposite direction. It's time-tested formula concocted by Floyd Mayweather as you can tell from his own words:

"People said I was scared, a coward, to fight Manny Pacquiao. Everyone can have their own opinion. I always said, 'if it's meant to happen, it'll happen.' At one particular time, that fight was worth $60 million. I waited until the time was right, when things were on our terms and we were the A side and we could do things our way, we turned that into a $600-million fight."

                It's all bidznezz doe.

                  He blew it.
No he didn't, he fought back and became #1 mandatory, fraud doesn't want to fight him it is that simple, from the moment he stepped in the division he made it clear he wasn't going to fight him. Do you remember the first thing he said? "I won't fight benavi, sorry, I won't fight mexicans no more.

He should have forced WBC to strip canelo.

He looked like crap in the Gvozdyk fight, he will lose to either beterbiev or bivol. and being at 175 long term he will not be able to make 168 anymore.

Then he should stop being a ***** and fight live bodies or just retire. Enough with giving active fighters a pass, especially those claiming to be the best.
