TBH, if you look at his boxing record, he recorded most of his knockouts against journey men in Mexico, that had less than stellar records - this was a clear indicator that he lacks power. If anyone really takes the time to look at Haney's whole boxing record, his whole resume/package is full of exposure.

I really don't wanna knock the kid, because he seems like a good guy, but Haney was a protected boxer. He's never really been as good as his record indicates. I feel bad that Ryan Garcia handled their bout unprofessionally and caused significant physical (and mental) damage to Haney, but truth be told. At this elite level, Haney would have eventually gotten beat....bad.

Haney can man up and go the ATG route by fighting the best guys in the division (Teofimo, Cruz, Tank etc.) despite getting exposed by Ryan Garcia.

      or

Haney goes back to fighting part time boxers.

        My thinking is the latter
Everyone knows he can’t do anything against that left hook

I feel that boxing experts in this article are not 100% honest about how they view Haney after this fight. In the eyes of most boxing fans, Haney's stock was devalued significantly, with or without PEDs. You cannot unsee what happened in that fight. That left hook was just landing and Haney had no answer for it, even though he trained for it. Tank on the other hand was not nearly as bothered by the same punch. It just means the old saying is true - there are levels to this thing called boxing.

What we don't know is how he would compete unassisted, vs Haney.

Could he still win? Sure. It might go exactly the same way. But we don't know, is the point.
lol yes, meant to say it was a fact he was assisted...

It's a matter of record that Garcia came in 3lbs over and failed drug tests. Haney didn't so how could it possibly have been an "even playing field"??

Seriously Dan, I'm surprised you even had to ask me that! But all's good haha.

Physically he should be just fine. However, psychologically; It just may have damaged him. Especially in the short run..

The good part about Devin Haney is that he was never an offensive fighter to begin with. So what if he becomes a little gun shy.

The man had shared the ring with a fighter who cheated him with unnatural speed and power due to banned substances.

Yet and at the same time he still displayed a tremendous amount of championship heart and will by making it a very close, hotly contested and highly entertaining fight anyhow.

I agree. Due to the use of banned substances. Ryan Garcia was unnaturally faster, quicker and stronger than Devin Haney that night which made it that more difficult for Devin to see and evade the left hook.

However, at the same time Haney still nearly pulled off the victory. In addition, given all the knockdowns; Garcia still couldn’t knock him out and still had Haney walking him down in the last round.

It was a crowd pleasing fight that King Ry should have won but didn’t. Due to his laziness and unwillingness to train properly for the fight. So he decided to use short cuts but it backfired on him badly.

I misunderstood, I thought you were saying it was BS that it wasn't an even playing field.
