Title of article obviously written to provoke Bud fans.
I have never seen a fighter like Crawford, who knocks everyone out in front of him, beats Porter and Spence.....and yet writers and many boxing fans can't stand the dude. I said years ago, his talent and ring IQ are special, he is the best fighter alive.
How anyone can not like him is incredible to me. He isn't always running his mouth, he is humble in many interviews. His talking is done via his fists in the ring.
The fact that he is slammed and insulted on so many boxing sites just miffs me. I know he is kind of more a conservative guy. Maybe that is it, he doesn't fit the narrative or something. Bud would smoke Ennis, and Ennis knows it, it is why he has turned Bud down in private while running his mouth publically. He is waiting til Bud looks a little past it and then he will accept the fight, pretty obvious.
I mean even this boxing writer is using Bud's name now to build up Ennis. It is hilarious.Last edited by Theshotyoudontsee; 07-14-2024, 09:11 AM.Comment

There’s no chance of Boots moving up unless he can’t make the weight anymore imo
I think you could be right but only because WW is an almost dead division. Barrios and Stanionis are at PBC but they are not even fighting each other - and Ennis didn't get the fights when he fought on PBC shows. Brian Norman will not be fed up to Boots. Who else is there? As unfair as it might seem to him, because having a dream to unify is a valid one, it's not likely to happen as once again boxing gets in the way of itself. So, time to move up - get an acclimatization fight at 154 then get a belt there - that said, PBC is dominant there too.
Plus I think once he starts to fight the boys at 154 , Boots won’t be as explosive as his fans want him to beComment

Boots is a great fighter but I have a growing sense that he’s also becoming a “Who cares?” fighter. He has no charisma and no real personality. There’s nothing really distinctive about how he fights. There are no real opponents for him at 147 and he won’t move up to the more-demanding 154 division. So in the end, who really cares about Boots Ennis? Hearn should scrap the obsession with having Boots unify at 147 and just have him move up.Comment

One tough dude is right. He was busted up bad to the jaw, gotta be in a world of pain this morning. He gave it his best shot and did a good job closing the distance as much as he could. He lost the fight but did himself and his team proud.
Boots looks huge for the weight. With Ortiz fighting in a few weeks, both Boots and Virgil are synced up to have a potentially epic fight coming up next, but the boxing gods always pull the rug out from under the fans. Not holding my breath.Comment

Charisma is never a bad thing for a fighter to have (or anyone, for that matter), but some of the ATGs weren't the most charismatic guys, either. Remember Tommy Hearns? For a long time he was legitimately regarded as the baddest MFer at WW and MW by virtue of his performance in the ring and his deadpan demeanor. But I always thought his personality was subdued and didn't match up with the image. He was kinda soft-spoken and not much of a trash talker. He didn't need to be.Boots is a great fighter but I have a growing sense that he’s also becoming a “Who cares?” fighter. He has no charisma and no real personality. But but then how will he avoid Bud Crawford and convince his fans it’s the other way around lolBoots is a great fighter but I have a growing sense that he’s also becoming a “Who cares?” fighter.
