A guy like Vergil Ortiz would have been serious problem for him. Boots still gets hit easy and he makes a lot of mistake that these limited fighters can't capitalize on. If he plans on hitting 154 soon, he 'll need to tighten things up 'cos those boys up there are strong.
Have you heard of boxing 'game plans' ? I guarantee he'd have a different game plan for Ortiz andd it'd be different again for Bud and for Fundora. Plus, as the writer mentioned a few times - he was likely intent on putting on a show for his home town crowd - not gonna be a successful show if he fights like Shakur - successful as in they'd come back for his next fight.

I think you could be right but only because WW is an almost dead division. Barrios and Stanionis are at PBC but they are not even fighting each other - and Ennis didn't get the fights when he fought on PBC shows. Brian Norman will not be fed up to Boots. Who else is there? As unfair as it might seem to him, because having a dream to unify is a valid one, it's not likely to happen as once again boxing gets in the way of itself. So, time to move up - get an acclimatization fight at 154 then get a belt there - that said, PBC is dominant there too.

While this question was not addressed to me, I'll take the liberty of answering: Given that dude typed "Bud is up there in age and looking for that cash out money", it very much sounds like he does know.

Boots is exciting and seems to have the full package , a little bit more on defence if he is to move up for what his frame suggests and he's up there with them all in exciting fights .David is a decent test and shouldn't be underrated in this but special fighters like Boots and Crawford pull away.

Turki should make that fight, and he wants to, Crawford vs Ennis.

Whether at light middleweight or middleweight, it doesn't matter which weight. No marination.

Ennis would have to be even better at defence, because Bud's boxing IQ is sky high and he looks to pounce on any mistake.

Yea and now that the unprofessional Janet-Becky Alimkhanuly can't make 160 anymore then PBC will probably will probably pick up the other 2 MW belts because no one else has any MWs of note. So I guess we are going to be spending the next 3 years watching Boots and Hearn beg Al Haymon for PBC fighters from 147-168. EARN WITH HEARN! My Gawd!!!

People complain that Shakur is boring and scared to engage. Then Boots engages and People don't like it because he gets hit. WTF???

Boots wasn't the least bit concerned with what was coming back at him. It's a fight , who cares if he gets hit ? It was fun while it lasted. Avanesyan is one tough dude. He took a serious beating. The Doctor made a good call.
