That is the weakest argument ever. Disproven by facts presented in this very thread. And some other casual fans agree with your silly claim, as they tend to. He and Fury ruined each other, quite obviously. This is boxing and these things happen frequently; and that's how a 2nd tier, Joyce stepping stone like Parker got the win.

Zhang? Would have been tough for even a 29 year old Wilder.

If Joshua didn't waste years losing to those underdogs, maybe he'd have earned a shot at proving himself against the other two champions of his era.
But his losses left him outside the winner's circle.

In what parallel universe is this winner circle?

• Wilder didn't age out, he was 33 ...that's a fact, not opinion.
• Wilder lost the first time he fought outside of the PBC stable of recycled nobodies and old men. That's not up for debate, it happened.
• Wilder had a right hand and no skills and that was long before he fought Tyson Fury and he got exposed. Again just stating a fact that's easily verifiable on you-tube.
• Wilder didn't age out he stepped up and lost the only belt he ever had. I'm sorry but that's just they way it went and it's not up for interpretation, it happened.

Now, if you want to talk about today in the real world fine, because today Anthony Joshua puts Wilder out, in one round while eating a grill cheese. After that you can cart Wilder by hospital gurney back to your imaginary winner circle with Dominic Brezeale and Bermane Stiverne.

Ngannou put Fury on his ass in what should have been a draw but sure, I understand why you don't want those fights to count but they do...and Anthony Joshua knocked them both out so live with it.

The skill thing for Wilder I liken to complaining about the too-small glove box in a Bentley, an insignificant issue; because he nearly always found the mark with the skills he did possess, even when in against the prime version of Fury.

We've learned that Joseph Parker is the forgotten man of this era who only has to beat Joshua in a rematch to eclipse the records of Fury, Wilder and Joshua himself.

Yet more deflection from an absolute joke of a so-called “journalist/historian”. You can’t explain your pure hypocrisy when talking about Wilder’s age, you won’t address whether Wilder was lying or not in that Twitter post saying he was offered more money to fight AJ than Fury, and you sure as hell can’t address why Wilder was “aged out” by the time of the Fury trilogy, but still looked a million dollars knocking out Helenius.

AJ is world-class but I wouldn’t yet call him great - I think he needs more defining victories to make that argument. An argument that can never be made for Wilder who has been repeatedly found out when stepping up, and can only hang his hat on 2 victories against a 40 year old fighter with high blood pressure, in 40+ fights..imagine that.
